Saying your "religion" is the only true religion is like saying your language is the only true language or your country is the only true country.

The fact is that religions, languages and countries were all made by humans.

Every religion is a product of the understanding of world humans had at the time of their origin and according to the location where it originated.

Every religion is a fable and is inherently fictional in nature.

The only reason why religion still exists in this scientific era is that the majority of our species is ignorant and delusional.

True, except for your elitist last sentence.
Religion persists because of injustice in the world. The exploiters promote it and the exploited grasp at it.
Uneducated, simple hunter gatherers 10000 years ago had no organised religion. The same is true of contemporary tribes.
We are privileged enough to see through the idiocy in religion because of our education, security or where we were born.
Others aren't so fortunate. Those who are starving because of exploitation by Western corporations or dying because of American bombs dropping from the sky are not living in our "scientific era." They are instead living in the world of primitive savagery that we create to ensure our material privilege over them.
Have some empathy for the vast majority for whom religion thus appears as a beautiful hope in the cruel world (Marx).
Don't use atheism as a vehicle to feel superior the way religious fanatics do. Have some empathy and learn about people's real lives...
"Progressives, Socialists, and Black/Palestinian Lives Matter"

Well done. That “holier than thou” crap does not help us.

Welcome to our site. All religions definitely have their roots in fear of the unknown and a need to explain our origins and future. Many of them provide a moral structure and comforting socialization.

I do not believe that ignorance is behind the beliefs of all believers. Many believers have never been exposed to any other options or education and experience that would give them an opportunity to think differently.

I agree, problem is most of them are “Set” in their ways and don’t even want to see any other way. Especially Evangelicals and Catholics, mostly.

That was exactly what a Jehovah’s Witness told me when I was 16. “our religion is the only real religion” son, you need to change the errors of your ways. It was this, along with the Noah’s Ark fable, that began my turn away from the brainwashing bullshit.

Religion is like Major League Baseball.
Some are Red Sox fans,
Some are Yankees fans,
And there are those of us that just prefer hockey

3

I don’t care what language you speak....so long as it is English.....

I would say 'so long as English is one of them.' I see nothing wrong with expecting the populace to have a common language.

3

Or traditional and trying to keep the peace, but yes.

Hello and welcome, enjoy the site and do check out the groups if you have time, there is something for everyone.

All religion is equally false.

Come on, some must be more false than others....

So much truth.

Welcome to the site, hope you enjoy being here with us.

Everything you say is true, nobody here is likely to disagree.

Yeah. That's all good. But,... English is the best.

If every religion reflects the understanding of the world that people had at the time of the religion's founding, what about religions founded in more recent times? Shouldn't it be more difficult to sell Joseph Smith's 'gold plates' and the planet Kolob, Ellen G. White's 'visions' of the 'Great Controversy,' Charles Taze Russell's 'miracle wheat,' or L. Ron Hubbard's Thetans? And yet there are millions of Mormons, Adventists, JWs and Scientologists.

I believe you are correct in saying that the majority of our species is ignorant and delusional, but the problem is that they're comfortable and accepting of this state of mind. The faithful must have their miracles and wonders--they need their fantasy. Their religion is as genuine to them as their favorite WWE wrestler. They don't want anyone to break the spell and remove their veil of superstition. The old saying is true, 'there's a sucker born every minute,' but in the case of the faithful, they are willing suckers. Willful ignorance is just plain stupidity, and as Ron White said, 'you can't fix stupid.'

100% right.

Welcome, you will find many who agree with your comment here, may find some that challenge you at times, but all in all a great site. Please write more about yourself in your profile, it really doesn’t give anyone any insight about you as it is now. 😉

The height of ignorance

I agree with your every word here. Yet, the religious of any denominational faction of belief want to ignore the issue because they know that only they have the truth. My lifelong religious friend event thinks that teaching Christianity in public schools would not be a problem because his god has so many different names.

What religion are you talking about?

You say,"Every religion is a fable and is inherently fictional in nature."

Religion ... pure and faultless is this: to help widows and orphans in need and avoiding worldly corruption. James 1:27

How is it a fable and fictional to help widows and orphans in need while avoiding worldly corruption?

Are you saying you are ignorant or delusional because you do not know a definition for religion that is 2000 years old?

Word Level 8 Mar 11, 2021

So if an atheist gives up a night out drinking, and instead goes to help out at a homeless childs shelter, is she being religious ?

@Fernapple sounds like it

@Fernapple No...what a ridiculous idea. If only the religious did confine themselves to doing charitable deeds...then they would have my unqualified praise and admiration ...alas the harm they do outweighs the good.

@Marionville why do you use religion or call people "religious " as you use the word? Where do you get that usage from?

@Word We’ve been on this roundabout before and I do not intend repeating that exercise with you. I was replying to @Fernapple who actually does understand the way I use the words religion and religious, so there’s no explanation from me needed.

@Marionville If they did confine themselves to charity, would you still call them religious? Then, why call someone religious if they are not about charity?

It's like they say, 99% of attorneys make the other 1% look bad. So, I guess for those that are about charity, you just throw them into the pot with the other lying atheist that "pretend" to be religious for some social or political reasons.

@Marionville It just seems to me that 99% of so called religious people are just lying atheist that aren't really into "religion".

@Word Complete nonsense, 99% of so called religious people actually believe in a supernatural being, in other words are theists. Therefore they’re exactly the opposite of being atheist. Your thinking is muddied and illogical. The other 1% doubt that there’s a god but want to hedge their bets just in case.

@Marionville the numbers do not lie. here is evidence that most "Christians" are not true believers. As written, Jesus character said, what ever you do to the poor etc. you have done to Jesus the "king of kings and lord of lords".

Matthew 25:36-40 I was (A)naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; 🍺I was in prison and you came to Me.’

37 “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? 38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, ☕inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’

Here are some numbers that when you look at the number of homeless Jesuses compaired to the number of people claiming to be believer you would see that no one believes in Jesus otherwise no one would be naked, hungry or homeless.

At least 567,715 people were homeless on a given night in January of 2019 in the U.S., according to the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) annual Point-in-Time (PIT) 2019 count.

The United States has the largest Christian population in the world and, more specifically, the largest Protestant population in the world, with nearly 205 million Christians and, as of 2019, over 141 million people affiliated with Protestant churches, although other countries have higher percentages of Christians ...

With this many "so called" Christian's there should not be any homeless, hungry etc. Jesus-people on Earth. Everyone on Earth should have a brick home built by true masons free from Masonic lodge secret religion racist devil worshippers.

@Word This is the roundabout I referred to....you and I have been here before, and I’m not interested in repeating that again...nor am I interested in biblical quotations. The last word I’m going to say is that homelessness and all the other attendant evils we have in society would be eliminated if people thought less about the accumulation of wealth and possessions for themselves and felt satisfied with less in order to make sure their fellow human beings had adequate food and shelter too. That has nothing to do with being a good Christian or. any order religious designation...but by merely being a good human being and showing human empathy and fairness..

@Marionville ... but by merely being a good human being and showing human empathy and fairness..

I agree.

Humans are learning animals, something's must be taught. Where are people being taught these principles, why are they not being taught and what would it take to provide them with text book teaching?

Welcome to Hell. I'm Louis Cypher, by the way. I hope you enjoy the stay.

Pleased to meet you...

@Canndue, thanks. Nice to meet you too.

@Paddypereira did you ride a tank, while the bodies stank?

@Canndue, what do you mean? If it's a joke, I didn't understand. In case you didn't know or noticed, I used the name used by the character played by Robert De Niro on Angel Heart.

@Paddypereira I did notice that, I was jokingly referencing “Sympathy for the devil” by The Rolling Stones 😂

@Canndue, fuck!!! I was caught in my own joke!!! It's a friend of mine's favourite from them. Lol!!! Excellent!!!😄😆😅🤣😅😆😂
