Immortality? File THAT under, "Be careful what you wish for!" On the other hand, "Heavenly reward in eternal life?" What would THAT mean!?
“Then again, there is no reason to assume that, once we have shuffled off this mortal coil, that we would experience an existence where we remember the past, do not know the future, and experience one moment after another in linear fashion.” — @timcopia
"There is no reason to believe that an afterlife would obey the laws of physics in the same way or that we would experience time flowing as we do now. For example, we could just experience all of time at once..."
"We would not grow bored because there would be no growth. Rather, life might be a changeless flow like a gas that has reached thermodynamic equilibrium. There might still be activity, not a crystalline freeze, but there would be literally nothing new under the sun..."
"Physics can’t answer that question, but time will tell for us all."

Speaking as coldly and logically as possible here, the ONLY so-called "After-life" that will come about AFTER we've 'dropped off the perch' will be that which absorbs the elements. etc, that once composed our decaying bodies, i.e. the worms, bacteria, fungi, etc, etc.
Since, " From the dust and gases of long dead Stars and Planets we came and to them we must eventually return." -William Anthony, 2018
"Someone once told me that time was a predator that stalked us all our lives. But I rather believe that time is a companion who goes with us on the journey, and reminds us to cherish every moment because they'll never come again. Afterall Number One, we're only mortal."
THE DOCTOR : Hmm? Oh, I'm so sorry. I suddenly realised what the old proverb meant. To lose is to win and he who wins shall lose. It was all part of Rassilon's trap to find out who wanted immortality and put him out of the way. He knew very well that immortality was a curse, not a blessing.
Doctor Who, The five Doctors 1983
I thought William Hartnell passed away before Peter Davidson took the helm of the TARDIS. That pesky Rassilon now he's something isn't he.
@oldFloyd He did, Richard Hurndall played the first doctor in the 20th anniversary special the 5 doctors, meaning the first doctor has been played by 5 actors
William Hartnell
Peter Cushing
Richard Hurndall
and
David Bradley who also played Hartnell in his biopic.
the fifth was by Hideyo Amamoto in an unofficial Japanese rip off in 1967
