3 days and counting down.
Wednesday 28th. April, 2021, I visit the G.P. and start on Quitting Smoking for good.
That'll mean an extra $200+ dollars in MY pocket every fortnight, no more ashtrays and ciggie butts, etc, around the house, be breathing a bit easier, fresh smelling breath, smoke free clothing and a reduced or gone for good smoker's cough as well.

Congrats! To me, these are the hardest days, but they'll get easier as it goes. I quit 27+ years ago and it took over a decade before I lost random cravings. After my husband died, I actually dreamed of smoking - I could even smell it in my dream (in a good way) - during stress dreams. But the idea of going through those early days of quiting again were enough to keep me away from them. Good luck.

There are prescription tablets that block the physical urge.

Yeah, and that's what the G.P. will prescribe for me tomorrow, one known as Champix.
I hope it is a good as the one they gave me back in the early 90's when I was having a problem with alcohol, those worked really well, within 5 days I couldn't stand the smell of anything with alcohol in it.

I quit over 20 years ago. Stick with it. If you succeed and I know you can, you will be much happier without them. Good luck.

The money alone would motivate the helloutta me!
Be sure to spend at least some of what you are not spending on smoking on lovely, charming, useful, yea, delicious treats for yourself, and never break a promise to your inner child!

Stay with it. It will be worth it in more ways than you can imagine After smoking for more than 40 years, I quit smoking in 1996. I marked by quitting by 8s: first, 6 hours then 6 days, then 6 weeks, then 6 months. I used the Nicorette gum to break the habits associated with smoking.
Then I transitioned to the nicotine path to get over the physical addition. Hang in there!!! If you need to talk about it, send me a message.

Thanks and will do as well.

I quit smoking cigarettes a few years ago, the temptation to smoke remains most of the time. Now ill only have a smoke if I get tipsy at an outside get together.

Go into it with the idea that you're learning to be a nonsmoker and every time you say No, you've won a point. The idea of willpower is bullshit and sets you up for failure. Before you actually stop, you might try smoking and only smoking, no tea, coffee, booze or distractions. If you do that for a week before stopping it will help extinguish your triggers and make it easier to stop. Like learning how to change the gears before ever starting the car.

I can go for around 3 -5 hours without having a ciggie when I'm outside in the gardens, etc, or so long as I'm doing something with my hands like painting ( art-works that is) but my Morning Coffee fix is my kick-start to the day.

@Triphid Sorry for the confusion. I'm not saying don't have your coffee, but have your coffee at a separate time to the ciggie. When you smoke, only smoke, and focus on the smoke. You'll find the experience interesting

I quit over 27 years ago, & damn glad I did.

I quit way back in 1998 but then in 2000 Lorrae was diagnosed with Lymphoma and, as you can guess, everything kind went down the tubes BIG time and I, regrettably, took it up again.

@Triphid Yup, that kind of stress can undo so many things.
