Do you know any believers with similar whacky ideas about the cosmos or science in general, this magical believing would be quaint if it didn't manifest itself into religious fervor in so many people. My brother was fascinated with telescopes even though he was an elder in the JW cult and it took me a long time to understand that what he was really looking for in the stars was his imaginary heaven beyond the clouds.

I've got a few family members that swill the kool-aid big time. Recommending books like "Prayers That Bind Demons." Completely in thrall to Trump. Don't hear much from them any more, and maybe that is not such a bad thing.

Seeing a cardinal is a loved one is visiting from beyond when a cardinal is a very common bird.
Now if it was a flamingo in New Jersey?

Finding coins is also some sort of message from dead people.

And black or white cats, ladders & ravens?

I know I am dealing with a real knuckle dragger when they say something similar but instead of calling it a Cardinal the call it a Redbird. How thick can a person get? As thick as two short planks, apparently.

In the meantime, they could be working hard to make this a heaven on earth. Instead, they make our planet a garbage dump and kill each other and other forms of life.

i know, right? So sad. A secret that you may or may not be aware of is that Mithraism (cult of soul invictus) was the going religion in 0AD, and that is basically what “Christianity” is now, via the RCC? My days of destroying a JWs “faith” with the Bible are over now, but i tell you that the Bible, NT at least, was written to counter that movement; No one has ever gone up to heaven, There is only One Immortal, etc, on and on.

But don’t expect your brother to be appreciating these revelations, ok, in fact he will likely ex- you for them

Many people are like that. My bible studies came basically from Finis Jennings Dake. He believed that heaven was another planet. Earlier in my religious life I believed that we all came from Mars and that Mars was the kingdom (planet) given to Satan (or Lucifer) before he rebelled. This fits in with the "pre-Adamite" belief of Dake and others. With "war in heaven" (or the heavens) as described in Revelation this all came to an end and that mean old Devil was watching the new humans to see how many of them he could get away from God. Also, "demons" are bodiless spirits left over from the Mars rebellion and they bother us because they want a body again. Put this all together in our modern world and you have a basic mythical system that helps you explain the things that we do not know. I'm glad I woke up and got out of it all.

As for heaven being a planet, I've listened to late night radio talk shows where the subject is something large like a planet and it is slowly headed our way. I take this as an exaggeration of scriptures claiming that heaven came down to earth or something. Armageddon headed our way soon. It's nonsense but it is all real.
