Oh the irony. Two major stories atm in USA

  1. Texas abortion with private citizens collecting bounties to enforce.
  2. Private companies mandating vaccination.

Both stories are about the denial of consent and using non-government entities to police and enforce a government agenda. Both sides of politics support the denial of consent and the use of non-governmental agencies to enforce/ police their agenda. But it depends which story you are talking about, because both sides also oppose the other.

Private companies are not mandating vaccinations. And it's not anyone's 'agenda.'

@powder No I'm not. Anyway, vaccinations SHOULD be mandated. It would be about time.

@powder Oh so you'd rather the pandemic continue on forever, to score twisted political points. I had my two shots; it was easy, painless, and free. No big deal.
The Texas abortion ban couldn't possibly be more different than mandating a common-sense vaccination to stamp out a public health scourge which will only get worse if left unchecked. This is so obvious it shouldn't have to be said, but such are depths to which public discourse has sunk in the age of trump.

@powder Sorry, I do NOT respect their right to expose other people to a virus which, thanks to them, idiot right-wingers, will most likely continue to mutate into, eventually, something truly terrifying, as if over 650,000 U.S. deaths are not terrifying enough.

@powder I assume people who do not get vaccinated are right-wing idiots and I have nothing but contempt for them, okay?; I hope they all get violently Ill and/or die, got it?
And I don't care what you think.

@powder It's not hate, it's simply the irrefutable truth. It's the UNVACCINATED who generally hate gays, blacks, Chinese, Canadians...whatever. It's the same exact group of reactionary Republicans. And yes, there is a definite connection.

How is this a “philosophy and meaning” post? 🤷♂️

@powder Fair enough…even though I may disagree with the comparison, I had not thought of it in that way.

The vaccine requirement by employers, or for that matter any establishment that has an indoor patronage, is also an extension of free choice. The business should be free to discriminate on the basis of safety in the workplace. One doesn’t have to work for an employer if they don’t agree with their policies. But based on the cost to any employer of infected customers or their own workforce, it is any employers right, private or public, to make vaccination a condition of employment.

1

@ powder, you obviously do not know what medical consent is. The TX law does remove a woman's ability to consent to remaining pregnant. Vaccine mandates do not deny a person's right to refuse the vaccine, but is a consequence of refusal of said vaccine.

Those are not the same at all. No one has to get the vaccine. People aren't getting strapped down and forcibly injected. However, people could be getting forcibly hauled into court for contempt for not appearing. And while I agree that it sucks to hinge employment on some things, there are lots of times it's perfectly logical. I'm required to get a lot of vaccinations to keep my job. I'm also required to abstain from marijuana (which could be legal for me) and even nicotine (which is legal for me).
Additionally, getting an abortion (or as is the case with this law, driving someone to get an abortion) is not contagious and will not kill more people as a result of carrying out the action.
Work on your analogies, bro, this one makes no sense.

If the person being accused of helping or having an abortion has to prove that they did not do this, it seems to me that a person with a good logical mind could make bank here. If one accuses a person of doing this, they would not keep and proof of said deed and there for if one was smart enough and quick of thought enough they could assure that anyone would have to pay them for just being accused. If I had the money, I would hire a liberal law firm in Texas to do just this and let them keep all the money. It would be fun to hear of this happening if all it did was just plug up the system. Yea stupid shits! Show me the money. Actually Chris Hayes quickly mentioned something like this on his show today.

Its about control.... One the need for a select few to control womens bodies ... The other the need to control a virus that is killing people
