I have a libertarian antivax friend who racked up a 250k covid bill from being ventilated in a hospital over a month. Tricare will foot the bill. She and her husband have learned nothing. They will not get vaxed or mask up.

Our leaders don't have the political will to do it, but I heard today on FSTV that in Singapore, where they have single payer national health care, patients who show up unvaccinated with Covid at a hospital have to immediately pay in advance for getting health care, in order to penalize them, quite rightly, for clogging up the hospital system and taking resources away from decent people who are innocently suffering from other diseases and illness.

Idiots like this will only realize their mistakes when they're lying in a hospital bed dying of Covid. They're either too ignorant to believe the truth or simply don't care about the consequences. And because of people like this Omicron likely won't be the last or the worst of the Covid strains.

While it's true that there are a lot of very stupid folks out there , in spite of the hold outs , vaccines were developed , our government purchased and distributed the vaccines , making those available at no additional cost , getting them first to medical personnel , then critical services personnel , then to the most suseptable of the remaining population , followed by all adults . Specific vaccines are in development for children and for the variants as we speak . Additionally , we were given reasonable instructions on how to limit spreading the disease , while these things were being developed and in progress . It is true , there were those who decided to challenge science , decided their spring break , their motor cycle gatherings , their weddings , their parties , etc. were more important to them than living . They not only put their own lives at risk , but the lives of their families , their friends , and strangers . In the overall picture , mother nature , routinely , "corrects ," problems that develop in nature . Everything dies eventually , and that is a necessary part of nature , whether we , as humans , like it or not . In this case , nature is improving the overall level of intelligence , by eliminating stupid . Survival of the fittest has always been a part of nature's plan .
