If you get the chance The creator of that also made a movie called "Orgasmo" where a Mormon gets cast as a crime fighting superhero in a porno....Stupidly corny but hilarious movie.

I will definitely check this out thank you!

Loved it. I don't care if the humor wasn't "introspective". That cult needs every mock and take down that can be dished. I was a little shocked to see younger children in the audience though.....

I saw it in 2016. It’s incredible and hilarious.

It was really funny! Enjoy ?

Yes, I saw it several years ago! Riotous!! Enjoy!

I saw it when it first came out. If you like South Park...the crazy Trey Parker and Matt Stone, explain the Mormon religion in a funny but truthful way. Even Mormens or at least some of them liked the show.

I saw it a couple of years ago and it was wonderful. So funny! I took a friend that isn’t really into musicals and even she loved it. There were Mormons outside the theater (PPAC) handing out pamphlets, which I found odd considering the entire play was poking fun at how ridiculous their beliefs are. I actually wasn’t sure if they were part of the show at first.

Strangely enough, the Mormons officially smiled wryly and went with the flow. (Perhaps Evangelicals ought to do the same with satire poked at them..)

When I saw it, the program had six pages of ads for the Mormon church. While I deplore their stances against homosexuality and find their general theology pretty weird, they seem to be expressing a sense of humor regarding the show.

And many of the Mormons I know (I live near the Garden of Eden apparently) are indeed really nice people.

@Kuildeous aside from the silliness of the whole religious thing, the Mormons I've known, and that is quite many, have been nice people with good senses of humor. It's just all that nonsense with Joe Smith, the conman, that gets in the way.

@kuildeous I think a big part of Mormon teachings are to treat outsiders respectfully. The Mormons that I’ve met have all been quite nice.

I had a friend that was raised in the Mormon church, but was no longer a member by the time I knew her, and she told me that all women, whether they are Mormon or not, are logged in a book at birth and “promised” to a Mormon man. I found this pretty hard to believe and thought I must be misunderstanding, but she said that even my name was likely in that book. Still not sure I buy it lol. How the heck are they getting birth records for that many babies?

I saw it in London's West End. I laughed my head off. I lived in Uganda during the presidency of Idi Amin and, although the depictions were farcical, I got extra enjoyment from knowing the real country, the way the people think and the political situation.
By now, I expect you too will love the play!

It was hilarious! I highly recommend it 🙂

I saw it in Ft. Worth and found myself sitting very close to Kay Bailey Hutchinson.....she did not crack a smile. But, then again, if she did, her face would crack. I guess someone gave her free tickets. ? It added to the overall amusement of the performance.....good times!

I enjoyed it when it played in town here. A few of the songs are catchy at the time, but nothing I'm humming months after. If you've seen South Park, you know what you will be getting. And it lives up to that.

But then again, I generalize the the story of the Book of Mormon to any Book of Insert Title Here.

2

Saw it four times. It’s so funny.

Yes I saw it because a friend REALLY wanted to see it. Along with most of the audience, she loved it. I was bored. I’m a plot lover even for a musical and this plot was far less than underwhelming. Nuff said. I think I was one of the few individuals there who didn’t need a pretext or excuse to be irreverent.

Had you ever lived in Uganda, (or indeed anywhere in East Africa) you would have enjoyed it more.

@Petter or if she was a Mormon.
