I received an interview offer today. Job might be alright.
BUT...I went to the interviewer's FB page and found she's a huge fan of jesus! As in lots of nutty posts about being saved.
Very odd that she would even consider someone with my (obviously Jewish) last name.
I haven't run into this much. Would anyone recommend not trying for the job based on that?

Maybe she knows Jesus was a Jew.
Some people believe in professional distance. Perhaps she does. It seems antiquated but I for one am hoping for a comeback.
No. Don't back down. Go for it.

I would. Everyone here doesnt judge or stereotype Christians and from my experience lots of Christians get people believe different things. What is there to lose. You will get which she is..inclusive of others or not. To me if they really follow WWJD ehat would Jesus do it would be embr
ace and exclude no one. Love and be generous with others...erc..

Maybe she's only a Facebook Christian and the reality is different from her online profile; you know, like it likely was for many of us on this site now.

@AmiSue I think so. I know I've been a closeted agnostic for 20+ years; all the while posting relevant happy thoughts to the Mormon church upbringing I had; sharing pictures of my daughter's being baptized Mormon, etc. I did all this because the society around me dictated that this is how you be a good person - showing off your achievement of "church milestones". Thankfully, I no longer participate in this activity and am upfront about who I am and what I do/don't believe.

Only if she is of Spanish Nationality and Jesus is her Significant Other.

That would be a silly reason not to take a possibly fruitful job...As long as she doesn't make an issue of it I say chive on and if she does just make sure you record that shit.

Why would you even worry, you're going to work not to be best mates!
Do Good not God, requires you to actually do good, please don't make godless people appear goodless!!
Sorry Ami but it's sounding a bit close minded, something you said you hate!

Letting her religious views paint your view of her is just as bad if she used hers to paint you. It works both ways. Let her be an idiot, take the job, and get on with your day. It's hard enough for people to find work.

Go to the interview and check it out . For me Jesus straight up teacher its those who interpet that fked up. He was not a man for alll seasons. Check it out. . . Trolling reallly? Aren't you looking for a job? why? Arturo has a good idea.

@AmiSue

Take the job, and troll her at work. I did the same thing with my boss.

Check it out. Perhaps you can help the business by expanding its customer base into the non-religious community. And perhaps by relying in your own skills and experience, instead of in prayer and faith in divine intervention, you can help the business better serve its existing customer base.

Nearly everyone I know is religious, and most of them are christian. If I ruled out a job because the interviewer was uber religious, I would not ever have gotten a job. If it is a good job, and you want it, take the job. If she or anyone else is driving you crazy with religion, go to HR. On the other hand, don't undermine religious people either. Religion or lack of it has no place in a workplace, so if you take the job, go do it, don't discuss religion, and if you don't like it there, look for another job.

Dont pass up a chance for a good job.

no, play it by ear.

I'm a builder with more than 30 years of experience and if the client is a preacher I avoid the project, too much hassle dealing with someone who expects to get special priviliges because they have a personal relationship with an imaginary friend. Their imaginary friend always backs them up regardless of how badly they behave towards you and if you are really unlucky they will insist that you start believing their imaginary friend is real too. Up to you but I'd keep trying my luck for something better.

It seems like prejudging..you may miss a lot of positive experiences by lumping all Christians as the same based on your ecperience of a few. I don't get it. There are many complaints of how some Christians view us but I see more stereotypical posts than I imagined.
I have experienced many religious and non religious getting along. I do think it is your right to refuse a Job but if it was the reverse I have seen posts all over that shit.

@gigihein I didn't say that I dislike all snakes, I just don't pet the poisonous ones. Having learned from experience I don't bet the long shots and I don't draw to inside straights either.

If she is just an employee it's probably not an issue. I'd go for it.

@AmiSue well, I suppose you could play it one of two ways, interview and hope for the best. If it becomes an issue you can look for another job. Or, you could tactfully place your cards on the table and tell her you're an atheist, but respect the right of others to practice religion and hope this will not be an issue. BUT, as I'm thinking about it now, she doesn't know you know about her religious beliefs so probably best to just keep your atheism on the DL and go for the interview and see how things go if you get the job.

RUN!!!

1

If she is saved and is into good works, no worries.
But if she wants you to be saved in Christ, another job will come.

3

Some religious people do not bring their religiousity into the workplace. If she is one of those, it can be okay. If, not I would be leery.

2

Many keep work & personal separate, for moral as well as legal reasons. I'd say go for it & see what happens. Don't expect the worst, hope for the best!

Oh dear. Maybe she's the type of christian who's actually trying to be a good person? They do exist. Maybe she's not trying to be a bigot.
