A breakdown from people smarter than me.

"Some blunt thoughts for 2022.

  1. Omicron will either mark the end of COVID by forcing everyone into immunity, OR a new set of deadly variants will be born in the process.
  2. Cryptocurrency is political, and a misanthropic enterprise aiming to shove hardcore libertarianism down everyone’s throats.
  3. Ukraine conflict is, at root, the aforementioned libertarian conflict. It is a test of institutions against capital and corruption. The way Americans will experience this war is through cyberattacks, economic warfare against the dollar, psychological warfare, and a final shattering of reality—especially around money.
  4. Conflict over Taiwan will merge with the Ukraine conflict, and will turn into a world war against the US and NATO over the continuance of the dollar as reserve currency; also at issue is the EU and the Euro. While we will most likely encounter this conflict domestically via electronic means, kinetic, nuclear and EMP warfare is a possibility. Taiwan chip shortages may cripple global manufacturing for an indeterminate period.
  5. US politics is now about only one thing: individualism (libertarianism) vs. democracy. People will try to tell you “maximizing freedom” is democratic and it’s a lie. Same thing is playing out in the UK and EU. “Communism” is the bogeyman they will use to try to fight democracy in any form. There are people on both the “left” and “right” fighting against democracy.
  6. Web3 is an attempt to shame/FOMO smart people into advancing libertarianism. Fuck that, with prejudice.
  7. The oil/gas industry is behind the libertarian drive, because it doesn’t want to be regulated (translated: ended) by “mob rule” (i.e. democracy).
  8. The libertarian influence campaign is driving COVID disinformation because they want to maximize oil/gas/industrial profits via maximizing movement and consumption. This is being done through many layers of overt influence and covert influence (cults and intelligence ops).
  9. We will never, ever address the climate disaster in time if this libertarian agenda is allowed to dominate.
  10. Casual opinions are no match for expertise and study. If you have something to contribute here, slow down and be thoughtful. There is a good chance I have, through deep study of this domain, facts and perspective you may not yet; I’m sharing this here with the full knowledge that most others have not been able to do this study. Performative, reactive comments will be deleted; I’m also deprecating my use of Messenger. Going forward, please email me if you have something important to share: davetroy at gmail.
Best case scenario: COVID burns out by Spring, and no new variants emerge; Putin gets cold feet and is deterred; China takes a slow, economic approach to Taiwan absorption; Tether investigation sparks crash, unwinding the sector without harming broader recovery; anti-democratic momentum is reversed; climate investments are begun.
Worst case scenario: Omicron surge sparks multiple variants with high mortality rates among vaccinated and unvaccinated, with a slow incubation time; Putin advances in Jan or Feb; China follows suit; Thiel, Bannon et al push crypto assault to try to destabilize dollar in parallel; government is captured and unable to squelch anti-democratic forces; dollar is actually challenged as reserve currency; chip manufacturing is halted, crashing tech deliveries and stocks; people’s 401💋s are effectively wiped out; rioting, unrest. EMP or nuclear attacks leave entire regions in 1800’s mode, with little communication or transportation, and possibly uninhabitable. A neofeudal, libertarian hellscape, if it can even qualify as a society.
Worst case is unlikely as a whole, but any one of these things is possible if we fail to understand our moment.
Best case is achievable if we get lucky and know what we are dealing with. Putin respects strength; let’s show it. Tether is a scam and needs to be taken down aggressively; the whole sector needs regulation. China won’t be emboldened if Russia is curbed. This is the year that institutions need to be strengthened and shine brightly, for if they fail to do so, they will be lost for good, along with our hopes for democracy or any sort of just world."

I never fail to be amazed at why outsiders wish to meddle in Russian Ukrainian matters.

And as for Taiwan - China it was the Chinese who invaded in 1949. If China wants their people on Taiwan back they should repatriate them but then they would have to do the same with the Chinese living in every other country in the world.

Who are these "smarter than you " people? Source is everything.

I went to high school with the source. Helpful hint: I think most people are idiots. When I declare someone my authority, it's not to be taken lightly.

@UrsiMajor His gift seems to be in connecting the dots and seeing patterns where others just see random dots. Some people can't see the forest for the trees and some people are so myopic that they can barely see more than the tree right in front of themselves.
This guy is a big picture person, he makes sense at least to me but I made my living on the basis of being able to see the patterns that others couldn't.

@Wangobango3 I admit when people kick my ass. Like I did just now. If you want me to call the hordes of anti-vaxers on this site smarter than me, not going to happen and not going to apologize.

@Wangobango3 I haven't been following the cryptocurrency and International affairs. What have I been following? COVID. While I watch about 90% of my friends become infected, I isolate myself in order to keep myself and my frail, elderly mother alive. Boy, am I cranky. Why are people who have spent extended stays on a ventilator and/or the ICU b/c of COVID telling me anything about COVID? Why are they telling me anything at all?

Nothing here surprised me and should not be new to anyone. We have had at least 2 years to think about Covid and many years about others. China, Taiwan, crypto, libertarians will make no difference in my life.

The question for me is how is my life going to change? Trump and Biden can go at each other throats but my life will not change. Govt policies affect us is an overstatement. We are worker bees, pawns in the game, we will be played. Thinking we have a say beyond our one vote, is living in a la la land. Unless we own industries and large wealth, our lives are meant for working all life and wait for meager retirement for the remaining short life in it. For the last 30 years, many presidents came and went, nobody's policies changed my life for the better. That should be true about most. We keep reading too much political news and give too much weight. News online, in print and in TV are all dominated with political coverage like our lives depend on it every day.

The only thing that changed my life was the technology. Govts, corporates will not change and improve for themselves, not do they want us to change. Govt wants us to work, go around and spend and corporations want to continue to payroll. That's why both corporations are so afraid for worker shortage, remote work because their traditional revenues will fall. They want the slaves to continue going as they have been. If anyone can upgrade and free us, it is the technology.

In many cases robots have replaced humans. Humans have limited monkey see monkey do ability. The basic android telephone has greater ability than the basic monkey whoops I mean human.

I find it significant that it is a non born American commenting.

@FrayedBear

To observe and learn you don't have to be born in the place. I have been doing that for over 35 years, more years than I spent in any other land.

@St-Sinner and they don't like it do they, 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. I get the same here but then I was brought here because they are too stupid to educate their own people to do the job - the same as America which has stolen all the best brains from around the world. In the UK it used to be known as the brain drain.

"Trump & Biden....at each others throats"??????
Biden himself pretty much ignores the steaming pile of orange shit, except to investigate him, as is needed.
You see the world Very Oddly. Don't suppose you watch Fox Entertainment.....

You covered a lot of ground on this post and I agree with much of what you stated.
I think that Omicron will wind up infecting most of the globabl population but kill very few. What it will provide is an incubator for other variants that may or may not be more lethal and possibly equally contagious, so anybody's best guess how it plays out but I expect Covid will be much like the Cold and the Flu as we move forward, always with us and something that will need to constantly be addressed.

American Libertarianism is more about Oligarchy, Crony Capitalism and Elitism in my opinion but I identify as a Lefty Libertarian which most people will knee jerk respond to by telling me there is no such thing, so let's go with Anarchistic Socialist or Socially responsible Freedom lover. Regardless, there is definitely a shift towards more Elitist Control over the world governments and that's never a good thing.

Putin senses weakness abroad and feels he needs to show strength at home to maintain is strong man image, since Ukraine is half Russian and half UKrainian after all the old Soviet purges, a civil war is inevitable. I expect a war that will drag on for a year or two before the Ukranian border is redrawn along Russian and UKranian population distributions.

China has it's 100 years of shame plan in full swing and recovering Taiwan before the end of this decade is critical for the Chinese leadership to maintain authority and respect. They have to do this or they will lose face and that's never acceptable in China. I'd expect more sabre rattling but not all out invasion, unless Biden has a heart attack or stroke and Harris takes the reins with Trumpites continuing to forment insurrection. If the USA appears weak or in turmoil then that would speed up the plan of bringing Taiwan home and of course there is also South Korea that needs to be made into a vassal state for China again as well.

A reset of the global currencies is overdue, debt based finance must implode by the very nature of how the currency is brought into being as a debt instrument, crypto currencies are the logical next step forward. I don't see this as a good thing because I believe that the crypto currencies will be consolidated under the control of the global banking cartels and governments will fall in line with the idea because it will give them access to the financial dealings of the population, control the money and I care not who sits on the throne.

Climate Change will continue to grow as a concern for the population but not for the Elites, this ties in with the global currency reset, the military expansionism and the pandemic, so expect more Blah, Blah, Blah. Make the move towards greener living on a personal level, that's the best a person can do in my opinion and it's what I have done in my life.

I agree with you that things could go very badly in a very short period of time, much like dominoes that tumble out of control because one key dominoe toppled and the rest gained momentum and followed suit. Democracy must be maintained and strengthened, even if it is the democracy that we have now with so much influence peddling that is now considered just the way business gets done. Expanding democracy as an ideal to strive for around the world is equally important and I hope that can be achieved. Taking swift and fair action to bring to justice the people who would seek to undermine democracy is critical, if the kid gloves don't come off very soon then it will all be too little, too late.
just my humble opinions
