I do all my internet on my laptop. I do almost all my phone calls on my landline. Away from home, I have my tracphone, which costs only a $100 a year, for emergencies or if my car breaks down. My landline and internet at home cost me about $85 a month. I am content with my arrangements, and have no interest in getting dependent or seduced with having a smartphone with me at all times for entertainment or some self-important need to be constantly available to others or connected to the world every waking minute of the day.

I use computers AND a smartphone. Each has its benefits.

I use Ooma, buy the unit for about $75, one monthly fee of $6 for any call anywhere unlimited...this house phone/landline saved my life when I could not get enough air to speak 3 years ago!

I have a land line because ATT is horrible out here in the boonies and Sectrum internet is unreliable. I prefer my PC with a big screen when I’m online. It costs us a small fortune to be connected.

I don't think the US has any internet options that are that cheap.

I'm addicted to my phone and really resent it when I have to use my computer. The only reason I even keep the computer is because it has Adobe Photoshop on it and I used to use that a lot when I was building the glass site. I recently bought a Google laptop/tablet and don't mind using it occasionally.

My phone blue box with unlimited everything only costs me $40 a month and I have a Motorola Rev 5G which is very cheap compared to the $1,000 phones many people have. It's free texting as well when I'm out of country. I can almost always walk down the street anywhere in Europe and use 2G without any cost as well
It does everything the $1,000 phones do.

Hmm... That makes sense. I use my computer for nearly everything and dislike even texting on my phone. I only use my phone if away from my computer for long periods of time and for photos or to play music or use the calculator function. I don't really use apps much at all - so it might behoove me to switch to a "dumb" phone after I retire. I thought the trend was to eliminate the computer - which I'm not ready to do.

Ha! I'm trendy! A couple of months ago, my phone died, so I did a similar thing as Robin did. I bought a basic phone and set up a 'pay as you go' account. I pay £5 per month. And do I miss all the apps, etc. I had on my old phones? Nope. Lol!

I recently connected my cellphone to the wifi I use, cancelled my too-costly cell phone service, and use my landline phone. It’s doing what I want.
