So sad that the U.S.'s identity is now with the gun. Such lost potential.

Betty Level 8 May 26, 2022

You’re from Renfrew, Ontario. I went to Renfrew Elementary School in Vancouver. And one day, while I was walking to school I found a sawed-off shotgun in a wooded area beside a house. I put it in my school bag, took it to class, and showed it to the other kids and my teacher. But this was long before school shootings became fashionable, so nobody panicked. But it all ties together, doesn’t it?

@NostraDumbass It was a different time when fear wasn't as prevalent as it is now. I remember the freedom I had as a child that no child today will ever experience. There wasn't that sense of fear that children grow up with now. It's sad that we lost the innocence we once had.

@Dyl1983 The potential was there, they just didn't live up to it.

“America Is A Gun

England is a cup of tea.
France, a wheel of ripened brie.
Greece, a short, squat olive tree.
America is a gun.

Brazil is football on the sand.
Argentina, Maradona's hand.
Germany, an oompah band.
America is a gun.

Holland is a wooden shoe.
Hungary, a goulash stew.
Australia, a kangaroo.
America is a gun.

Japan is a thermal spring.
Scotland is a highland fling.
Oh, better to be anything
than America as a gun.”

My income is a flat screen pawned
America is a gun

@NostraDumbass Cute. 🙂

Sickening and ridiculous. The problem is that you listen to those in government talk about the latest shooting and they gently tap dance their way around it. Hmmmm. It must be that some of your re-election money comes from gun lobbyists.

The boys from the Pro Guns Group would probably salute this baby: With a tear in their eyes, a lump in their throat and a hole where their heart should be.

Actually, I just checked their site. The real problem, apparently, are signs that say “THIS IS A GUN-FREE ZONE” on the school, which amounts to an open invitation to the gunman to attack a “soft target” which he would otherwise avoid if it was properly defended. And then go find a soft target somewhere else, I suppose.

Yes, the whole problem is that we have to "harden" the targets. We need to arm teachers, install "man-traps" and metal detectors, and maybe even have an armed police force at every school. It worked so well at the US capital, we should do it at all the 100,000 public school buildings in the country. Once we do that then we can figure out what to do about the churches, movie theaters and grocery stores. These people take about masks taking away their freedoms. We used to have the freedom to move about our public school campuses and enter through any door we needed to. We are already entering through security systems, How the f do you think these people think schools have been coping through all these horror stories?

@MyTVC15 Apart from countries where America arms insurgents to further US greed, does any other country experience this horror to the extent that USA does?

No I didnt think so.

Guess what the difference is - there is gun control.

@FrayedBear I hope you realize the sarcasm in my post.

@MyTVC15 No I require sarcasm alerts particularly as I don't think I've previously encountered you.

If only he really believed what he wrote. 😡

That is the most fucked up picture I’ve ever seen!

@Dyl1983 I may not be alone in having reached sympathy fatigue for the USA. I have reached the point of seeing such murders in the name of "a well regulated militia" as being the new normal in that country. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes ... play lethal games, win lethal prizes.

What I would regard as news is Congress finally coming to its senses and seeing the right to life as being more important than the love of assault rifles and money.

The way I feel right now is that that picture is appropriate for our times, sadly.

@Dyl1983 it was certainly shocking to see! I love what that flag represents and am always disgusted when people use it and alter it like this!
