Ending phone conversations with loved ones is always awkward for me. I always say something like "I love you" and they have to ruin it with something like "Thank you for choosing Blackjack Pizza".

I occasionally call Amtrak Julie just to chat. Although at times, she can get rather snippy, and wants to be in total control of the conversation. I wonder if she is even owns a map. The other day, I called to ask her about train number 327 Chicago to St. Louis. What time will it stop in Springfield I asked. Well, says Julie there are a number of Springfield's in the United States, which one are you asking about? Now think about Julie I said. How many Springfield's are there between Chicago and St. Louis? In situations like this, she gets frustrated and simply repeats herself. She also takes it very personally when you mention the train is a behind schedule. At this point she can become counted on to say "Trains can and do make up time."

I have never actually told Julie that I love her, although I suspect she knows.
