There is absolutely no reason why we consumers should have to pay for any company's expenditures on lobbying and political advertising. Such activities do not benefit us, but are companies passes such costs on to us. We need state and federal laws saying that for accounting and tax purposes, the costs of lobbying and political advertising may not be considered a cost of doing business which gets passed on to consumers. Instead it should be subtracted directly from profits.

It is so much worse where corporations favor political candidates when the corporation is owned by the public via shares. Shareholders never get asked where the corporation should be lobbying. And, corporations are NOT people and are not entitled to free speech the way people are. Citizens United is bullshit.

Then stop buying their products. There are a lot of products I won’t purchase, stores I won’t shop at, and gas stations that I won’t purchase from.

That is also my modus operandi. There are lots of stores I simply do not shop at, Hobby Lobby and Chick Fil A are at the top of my boycott list.

@HippieChick58
I don’t give a shit about their god, but I’m cool with Chick Fil a. I was thinking more Loves gas stations, Nike, anything NFL or NBA affiliated, etc.

@CourtJester I refuse to spend my money at any company who denies my sisters equal access to all health care, HL prevented their insurance carrier from covering birth control. Chick Fil A has spent money on lobbies against gay people. I don't have a Loves near me so I have not paid attention to their stance. I don't generally buy brands like Nike, or anything affiliated with sports. I have less than zero interest in any pro or college sports.

@HippieChick58 I disagree with abortion in many cases personally and I know how to put on a condom and still pull out, so I’m okay with them.
