Your neighbor’s probably a very busy guy, lol. But, honestly, if I had a lawn to take care of, I would do the same. I’m not a professional gardener yet. Maybe I will learn to like working with plants when I grow older but not now. It’s too tedious and too boring.
The only thing I accomplished in my garden was removing the big old trees with the help of the best tree surgeons near me. They did all the work while I was looking from aside. I liked the trees, but they were too dangerous to keep: the roots damaged the house’s foundation, and some branches were too close to the roof. Never plant trees too close to your house because they will pose a great danger once they get old and dry.

Yep, that could be me. It's a process. I buy plants, they sit in my driveway for 3 weeks; then I arrange them in their intended place in the garden for another 2 weeks before I actually get around to planting them. No excuse, but my priority has been keeping my watermelon and butternut squash plants (that I've grown from seeds) thriving and productive. So thanks for reminding me. I do need to get my flat of Big Blue Liriope plants in the ground!

I had the house and yard and did the work. Now I have a townhouse and that photo is almost the extent of my landscaping. I appreciate that working in a yard can be therapeutic for many, but I do not miss it.

That's one thing I miss - being retired - not owning a home with land...landscaping. I'm impressed
