I read time and again of more suicides. Articles about them try to be on point and claim that we just do not know what these people are going through. I can agree with that. Whether it is Robin Williams or this news person here. Yes, I agree that we do not know what they are going through. The problem is they also do not know what they are going through. Many do not know what is happening to them or why.

Suicidal thoughts may be brought about by the sudden cessation of using SSRIs. A Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor increases serotonin levels by inhibiting the removal of serotonin by serotonin-specific transporter protein in the synaptic cleft. This may result in the cells trying to compensate by making more uptake proteins. Thus, when SSRI use stops, serotonin levels may plummet, causing deep depression and suicidal ideation.

Steps to boost serotonin levels can help some forms of depression and prevent suicide: SSRIs long term or 5-HTP in the short term.

I'm sure this is related. Some people commit suicide on drugs and alcohol. With people like Robin Williams his comedy was likely an attempt at balancing mental feelings. With this news woman I posted about nobody really understood it because she was soon to be married and everything appeared to be going well. for her.

In my own life I have felt this way once as a teen because of some imagined romance that didn't meet my fancy. I remember dark feelings for sure but it was short lasted. Apparently with some others this is almost a daily battle.

On Williams: "An examination of his brain tissue suggested Williams had "diffuse Lewy body dementia"
"...his widow Susan Schneider Williams said that "however you look at it—the presence of Lewy bodies took his life", referring to his previous diagnosis of Parkinson's. She also revealed that in the year before his death, Williams had experienced a sudden and prolonged spike in fear and anxiety, depression, and insomnia, which worsened in severity to include memory loss, paranoia, and delusions."

I'd say a lot of people have sympathy with the idea of committing suicide rather than waste away in a progressive degeneration. We put our beloved pets to sleep, and we consider that humane.

After a lifetime of use, our bodies and brains suffer wear that degrades the experience of living. What had been a delight becomes a torture chamber with no other way out. Here's a quote from the Wiki entry:

She noted "how we as a culture don't have the vocabulary to discuss brain disease in the way we do about depression. Depression is a symptom of LBD (Lewy body dementia) and it's not about psychology – it's rooted in neurology. His brain was falling apart."
