Ouch! Living in America is crazy even for crazy Ozzy Osbourne. 😅

Ozzy Osbourne Returning Home to the U.K. From the U.S.: ‘I Don’t Want to Die in America’

After more than two decades in Los Angeles, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne are returning home to the U.K., with gun crimes in the U.S. being a primary reason.

“Everything’s fucking ridiculous there. I’m fed up with people getting killed every day. God knows how many people have been shot in school shootings. And there was that mass shooting in Vegas at that concert… It’s fucking crazy,”

Osbournes show septics their asses

Just like witches at black masses

This is crazy...

It looks crazier living in the US when you know what it is like to live in the UK, i.e., no mass shooting in the UK, and Ozzy is English.

2

So far, I'm getting the impression that you, American folks, on here would leave the US if you could. Is it really that bad living in the US? Surely, some states are better than others, etc.

Ryo1 Level 8 Sep 27, 2022

States controlled by Democrats are marginally better than those run by republicans, but the crazy followers of trump are everywhere unfortunately. 😉

They are simply a couple who can afford to make such a move for their own reasons. Nothing wrong with that, and it is their right.

I learned that Osbourne was born in a working-class family. His father was a toolmaker and his mother was a factory worker. He started performing as a vocalist, formed his own band, changed the band's name a few times before settling with the name Black Sabbath, and after that he became successful, famous and rich. Many people begrudge the rich and I feel like asking them Why didn't you become rich? You could have, too. Lol

I can't agree that the entire country is strange, but California certainly is.

True, parts of the US can be balanced. Stay out of the big cities.

Ha! Finally, someone defends their homeland. Good for you, sir!

Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne Celebrate 40 Years of Marriage: 'Happy Anniversary My Love'
The couple's milestone

I've reached 85% of my dream list on a deadline over 40 years. Best I did as a couple was 10 years with one woman. Hats off for Ozzy for 40 years, a missing dream I'm still working on. After his whole wild family lifestyle.

Thats not all, Black Sabbath started in UK in 1968 often cited as pioneers of heavy metal music. Ozzy claims he still going on tour. That's 54 years of as a musician lifestyle, beat that?
Has anybody here, have done their work on any one profession that long? If not, he must be very good with all that pratice.

When the U.S. is too crazy for Ozzy Osbourne, that is pretty bad.

I was never a fan, bu I do still appreciate the statement that goes with his leaving.

7

Can't blame them at all. Wish I had another Country I could just pick up and move to easily as well.

Smart guy!! 🤠

2

Eh. He won't be missed by me.

BTW, isn't it a ironic that the creative center of Black Sabbath, a band notorious for its dark, violent music, picks up and runs when things get interesting? For those who are unfamiliar with BS, here are samples of his lyrics from three different songs.

"Now the time is here
For Iron Man to spread fear
Vengeance from the grave
Kills the people he once saved"

"Where can you run to
What more can you do
No more tomorrow
Life is killing you
Dreams turn to nightmares
Heaven turns to hell
Burned out confusion
Nothing more to tell, yeah"

"live for today
Tomorrow never comes
Die young, young
Die young, die young
Die young, die young, young
Die young, die young, die young
Die young, die young, die young"

So the dude made a nice living playing up fear and anxiety, then cuts and runs when society starts to sour.

I dug Black Sabbath when I was like 14, 15 years old. Then I moved on to greener pastures.

It’s only entertainment any way you look at it. It’s no different than watching The Omen or The Exorcist.

@CuddyCruiser I was gonna say the same thing, You beat me to it. Lol

@Ryo1 Yes, entertainment, but not uplifting or even very insightful. Low entertainment. Mediocre entertainment.

I've worked in the US as an artist longer than Ozzy. I Left US for a few of the same reasons. In fact I was kick out of US for not supporting violence and death by WGBush. Look what happen to John Lennon?. Yet Lucky for the ones who love what they do for most waking hours of their lives, where most don't even like their job. Being the greatest tragedy and waste of time in life.

Vetern artist most often love their work and have productive personality” Creative captures the idea that we’re talking about artists and writers and musicians and all kinds of people who make creative stuff.
An universal human fear of death makes people crave immortality, and the productive personality deals with this fear through making works that will outlast them. (As opposed to other personality types who freeze up in the face of this fear and get stuck, or ignore or avoid dealing with this fear entirely.) Most artists I know don’t start making art for immortality (or fame). Young artist, and are encouraged to continue due to that praise, that doesn’t seem to be motivation enough to choose a creative path for life. It takes 12,000 sculptors for one to be able to make a living at it. Imagine my nearly 5 decades of this beautiful lifestyle. A Vetern artist is to make the unvisible, visible, through love and work. People often ask me what is my real job, the arts in history has been more longer and more influential for mankind than religion or politics. My job is more real to me than most jobs. Yet we are the lowest paid on the financial totem pole, and many people think artist have a screw loose. Wouldn't trade for those toys than all the joys in life, in the end.

@Flyingsaucesir
I think you are missing the point @CuddyCruiser is making...
Still, you're etitled to your opinion on Black Sabbath. I'm not all that familiar with BS - kinda before my time.

i didn't even like them when i was 14. the name of the band conveyed to me they were maybe trying to cash in on some version of disaffected life sucks nonsense, and the sound of their music was, to my ear, loud, angry, dark, which wasn't to my liking. his voice sounded whining to my ear which also wasn't something i personally liked.

but later in life i've come to appreciate they were arguably not as bad as i had dismissed them, if i eased up on sone of my music snobbery. metal is usually not for me, but even within a genre i don't like, i can respect the musical and lyrical effort. war pigs is (i think) a decent angry rejection of some of the worst of war mongering. this is not to take an all war is unjustified facile point, but i'm ok with that song. one could argue that on some level his reasons for leaving has some consistency with the message of the song. i don't really know what goes on with the guy though, and in not sure i buy all my own constructs here

@Ryo1 And let’s face it……a lot of the Metal today will (As a few people I know describe it) say it makes Ozzy sound ‘mellow’. Or like ‘Easy listening’ when compared to stuff like Thrash / Death / or Black Metal. Which is the most ruthless and aggressive form of music that exists.

@CuddyCruiser I'm not saying I hate Black Sabbath, or all heavy metal. There was a time when I loved it, but I found lots of things I love more. Metal just got pushed to the back of the line.

It's good to have enough money to be able to pick up and go.
Most of us don't have that particular luxury.
Bon Voyage!!

It's true that you need money to be able to do what you want to do. But if you are desperate, you will probably find a way. For example, In Russia, many civilians are protesting and fleeing the country because Putin ordered conscription for Ukraine. Of course, they are not promised an end to suffering by doing so. They've got to be desperate, though.

Like the man himself said:

“Don’t ask me……..I don’t know”

2

Good riddance.

Like him or not, he’s still a legend whose influence will be felt for decades to come.

4

If I was that rich and could live anywhere, I would be in BC, British Columbia..

But if you are happy (and safe) where you are, you wouldn't have to consider leaving regardless of whether you can afford it or not.

You have to be rich, the average house in Vancouver is a million dollar, and the third most unaffordable city in the world. Had to work my ass off, just to have a glance at the outdoor beauty.

@Castlepaloma It figures.

I never liked his music, and wasn't too much of a fan of the late career tv stuff, but upon reading his reasoning, I'm reminded he's got some smarts and probably some decency.

kmaz Level 7 Sep 26, 2022

I liked a good bit of his music, but completely agree with the tv crap. I have often wondered if it was his wife and kids that dragged him into that. The best of luck to him.

@BOBdammit She / the kids certainly played a big part. Ozzy is also, as you know a live performer who of course just naturally loves the attention.
