This is what religion does to people:
"Mumbai Man Slit Wife's Throat For Not Wearing Burqa
On September 26th, a Muslim man, Iqbal Mohammad Sheikh murdered his wife, Rupali Chandanshive, a 20-year-old Hindu woman, by slitting her throat with a sharp knife and stabbing her hands multiple times for not wearing a burqa as per Islamic traditions and demanding a divorce. According to the reports, the incident happened in the suburban Tilak Nagar area of west Chembur, Mumbai India. Iqbal and the victim Rupali have been married for three years since 2019 in a conversion-marriage ceremony. Rupali reportedly had to face constant pressure from Iqbal and his family to follow Islamic traditions. Rupali never listened to her husband's and in-laws' demands, which led to a never-ending cycle of domestic abuse. Exhausted from the abuse, Rupali decided to leave her marital house to live separately with her child about six months ago. After a quarrel over a phone call, Iqbal hauled Rupali to a nearby alley, where he murdered her and fled the scene. Iqbal was arrested under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and was taken into police custody for interrogation."

Murderers, victims and orphans the true fruits of religion.

Always under the guise of religion. I hope they execute that POS

If the State have waged the same scale of war on drugs on religion extremism, that war would have been won by now.

Sorry I cannot understand what you are trying to say

Church and State have always been dance partners, one supports the other in controlling the population, they may separate for a time but they always come back together for the next dance.

so the religion of peace strikes again. A child is left motherless parents have lost a daughter and if any justice is done another set of parents have lost her sone for a long time. All because some people cannot behave as though we are in the 21 century. They want to preserve their backward bronze age rules even though it leads to death

So sad how people can prefer faith over family and respect for others.

A question that has plagued me for years.
I could never disown my family for the sake of some so called church or similar, I cannot understand how they do.

@LenHazell53 You are lucky to have enough natural intelligence and human empathy to realise that nothing, no diktat from a priest or mullah, can be above the natural human feelings of love and kinship we feel towards family and friends.

In my opinion.
Religious intolerance of anyone that does not conform to its doctrine has resulted in wars, murders, and abuses. History is filled with these stories. Is it not time to hold these "Religions" accountable for encouraging and creating the circumstances that allow these crimes to be committed? Instead, society has allowed "Religions" to blame the individuals for the crimes and distance themselves from responsibility.

We no longer live in the Dark Ages. Is it not time we demand some changes?

I see far too many Ferdinands and Isabellas lurking in the dark corners of society for positive change to happen.

@anglophone What scares me is, what happens in the States will infect Canada. I will always support those who at least try to fight against it, even if it will be a losing battle.

He should receive, as punishment, exactly what he did to her.
As should every last one of these religious assholes
I'm sick of this shit.

Mental defectives flock to religion and religion encourages mental defectiveness.

If they can find a problem they can promise a miracle cure, ... bastards

Many in other countries are mimicking what they see rising up in America right now. They always did have these strange religious beliefs but more today are acting upon them. If such a murderer is taken into custody according to a local penal code, just keep in mind that most of them have the same religion and hold similar beliefs so very little gets done. The penalty has to fit the crime.

Right, there likely will be little or no justice in this case….😞

@Buck I doubt that, if it was a Hindu killing a Hindu wife then he would probably get a hearty slap on the back and send home with a slap on the wrist.
But since there are already laws enforcing mandatory conversion of the bride in cross faith marriages in India, this killing is likely to be used as an example of a bad idea.

@LenHazell53 Hindu women marrying Muslim men is a big political issue in today's India and there is a term for it - love jihad. Basically, people trying to control who marries whom. The pressure on the other-religion wife to convert to Islam is very strong and I am sure if this piece of news is true, there are already demonstrations against inter religious marriages going now

There, but for the Constitution and the rule of law, goes America.
