I couldn't do my job without some form of personal transport. I have too much stuff to carry with me that I might need when I get there. Most of the guys I work with have their car boots literally full of tools and equipment. Try getting that lot on the tube.

If I'm in the office, my commute is about 2 hours 15 minutes for the round trip. I've looked (out of curiosity) how long it would take by train, and the round trip is about 6 hours plus waiting time. I can telework about 90% of my job, but the remaining 10% needs me to be hands on with equipment in the office or other locations.

And public transport already has its issues in this country (particularly overcrowding on trains at peak times.) What happens when you remove the incentive to be competitive because they have a captive market?

Also, how does the early shift bus/train driver get to work?

Public transportation-would meet people in transit.

I would ride my bike. I would miss just getting in car and driving to explore. But I loved riding bikes and rode everywhere until I got a car when I was 23. Since considering living in mobile tiny house...like converted bus thought moped and bike would be good for local transportation while staying in one spot
