My rant

I've stopped paying attention to the news and maybe watch TV for 10 minutes a day if that. As far as the Internet goes I deleted my fb account the other day and there's only one social media site I frequent and it's this one. If I do want to read news I usually go to a site like NPR which is far less political and more news oriented but that's not often.

The other day I texted a friend something. He texted back something about this bud light transgender issue. I let him know I didn't know what he was talking about as at the time I didn't. Who gives a fuck about beer commercials and transgenders? I mean, really? You're 50+ and that's where your head is? People don't see that as a problem.

My views on "gun violence" have changed. I simply dropped the term "gun". It's about violence, period. Until or unless we address that guns won't matter. I've even written to my public political figures and in both cases got back form letters about how they are addressing "gun violence". They totally ignored what I wrote. Only one politician replied in a way that let me know they actually read what I said and that was someone running for office. Both my elected officials are dems, not that it matters because as far as I'm concerned dems and republicans are both fucking idiots that do mostly nothing good for society.

Mental health is a big concern. Problem is it's like treating diabetes with diabetes meds. That's all well and good but if you don't address the underlying cause of diabetes you're simply going to be a diabetic taking meds the rest of your life. No one has the balls or guts or discipline to address the underlying root causes of their mental or even physical issues. I'll give you a perfect example. My brother. He takes meds for depression and anxiety and maybe other stuff as well and has for many years. He's a totally miserable person. I can't even get him to respond to my simple question of what is going on with our mom's rehab. His house is a hoarders paradise and you can't even get around in his house. He sits around when not working and watches TV. His wife will say "Honey, it's time for your anti anxiety meds" and he takes them. Yeah, the meds probably keep him from killing someone but he's still a totally miserable person no one can stand to be around. I was once on all the same meds and had many similar problems. I got off all the drugs and healed and am healing myself. How? Simple, I look inward at myself and my issues and address them. Most folks have no desire to do that and that's what it comes down to, desire. Also all those meds have seriously bad long term health effects.

The other problem I've seen time and time again is people stop growing. When a person has a spouse, kids, etc they learn. They learn how to parent, etc. Once the kids leave they stop learning and they sit around and do nothing but watch TV. They stop growing, their relationships stop growing and they simply exist until they die. It's sad.

So then what makes me so special? Well after you get run over by a semi a few hundred times you start to think maybe the problem isn't the semi but the fact I'm standing in the middle of the fucking street. Most folks don't have an issue in their 50's that causes them to re-examine their entire lives. I have, that's what makes me different. Most people don't feel their problems rise to that level so they just keep doing what they do and expect different results. Take meds and it will cure them. Most meds cure nothing. They simply mask symptoms and add their own set of problems. Like my brother. Yeah he might not be racked with anxiety and depression being on the meds he's on but he's fat, out of shape, bad mood most of the time, and likely can't even get it up because of the meds. It's a sad existence. No one wants to hear it though.

No one wants to take personal responsibility. Just look at the fact of how many people feel a certain emotion and blame another for feeling what they feel. They can't even take personal responsibility for their own emotions. If a person doesn't do that they aren't into personal responsibility at all but I guarantee you they think they are all about it. People want to change the world around them but not themselves. It's that simple and if you look at politics that's pretty much what it's about. The world needs to change to be what I want it to be. Me change? Fuck that.

Politically I consider myself LIbertarian. I'm not politically active though. Let people do what they want so long as it's not hurting anyone. Getting rid of guns solves nothing. If a person is frightened and therefore angry and violent then they are with or without a gun. There's a million ways to kill a lot of people at once other than a gun. A gun is simply easiest for most people. It's like outlawing twinkies and thinking that will solve everyone's health issues. Ridiculous! For the dems and repubs it's just a game and one most people are only too happy to play. I'm fond of simply saying do you want peace or do you want to be right. All these anti gun people who get a hard on every time there is a mass slaughter via guns will stand up and shout about how they are right. I say yep, you're right, how's that worked out for the past 50 years? It hasn't. Might want to try a new approach. They won't though because they simply are programmed by mass media and regurgitate what they hear daily.

As for someone finding and getting the medical care he/she needs, the problem isn't so much the healthcare industry as it is society at large. The mental health industry is overwhelmed because people think taking a pill will solve their problems so they get a script and take meds for the rest of their lives and fill up the system because they refuse to address their problems in a healthy and individually responsible way. So people that actually need the help get fucked over.

Problem is with society at large. I'm fond of listening to Dr. Gabor Mate and his take on humans and healthcare is the most all encompassing and common sense approach I've ever heard. Of course there are others but he's excellent. I'll be buying his book "The Myth of Normal" before long. But like I said most people don't give a fuck. They are perfectly content being perfectly uncontent. Nothing really super bad ever happens to them so they just keep doing what they're doing never realizing the problem is them, not anyone or anything else.

Welcome to a very small group who still like to think for themselves, be responsible for their own lives and actions and give a rats arse about "society " says they should think.
I have always believed the adage"to thyself be true..
Society does not live my life, I Do ! and accept full responsibility for it.

Truth isn't in our society any more, anything in the media or broadcast now is there to profit someone else and news would have to be the most corrupt of all.

if you are not true to yourself, how can you be true to society?

Well, nothing matters as long as big Pharma is raking in record profits 24/7.

Your life is yours, do whatever you do. Just as long as YOU take responsibility for what you do and not blame anyone else for shortcomings that may happen.

No wonder they are raking it in, seems like everybody is on meds for depression, anxiety, or both..

@TomMcGiverin Their goal is to get everybody on drugs. In 2006 they had 35% of the population on meds. Today it’s 42%.

@CuddyCruiser I'm surprised it's that low, but then again, the figure could include some people lying about their med use, or it could be lots of people have no decent prescription drug coverage, so they don't take psych meds, even tho they might need them.... or not, but can't afford the prescribed drugs, etc..

@FvckY0u Another big problem now is Direct to consumer advertising of drugs, which began in 1997. These are designed to brainwash you into thinking that you ‘need’ the drug in order to lead a healthy life. And look at the paid actors, actresses and children n them. This is only allowed in one other country, that’s it.

I realize there are certain drugs that are necessary for certain people who may have been born with a certain condition or ailment and drugs are the only option. Most common ailment’s today there are natural treatments and remedies for them. But it’s YOUR responsibility to do your homework when it comes to your own health. No one else. All Big Pharma is out for is profits, nothing else. Again, YOU must take responsibility for your own health.

@FvckY0u It’s all over TV., internet and magazines.

@FvckY0u The SSRI 's ( Selected serotonin reuptake inhibitors) handed out by doctors beside their lollie bottle at their reception counters are marketed as being safe and effective. They are as safe as a candle burning in explosives room beside and top of gunpowder.
In my research I have not found any case where pills have actually cured any mental condition.
The best that can be hoped for is a masking of the symptoms ........At a price!

@CuddyCruiser How many were 'on drugs' when Cok-a-Cola had real coke in it.

Good post. I like your take on "gun violence" where you simply drop the word gun. Being hit by a semi a few hundred times sinks in too. As for beer and the transgender thing it gets a few people some publicity. I am amazed that so many people think dems and repubs are dictating what we all believe in America and the world in general. If I bring that subject up almost immediately the other person starts telling me what their hated party is doing. Most of the time it is not true and I cannot view any of it as a talking point. As long as this continues mental health will remain in the rut that it is today.

Well said

Seems to me as long as its possible to buy politicians and keep them in power, things like gun control, drug control, energy control, and all those underlying causes, are there to stay.....democracy went out the window when money got control of the vote....

True, we live in a plutocracy, not a democracy. What we peasants want does not matter at all, only what the donor class wants, so those issues that affect their wealth and power are permanently off the table as far as policies that our bought pols will ever consider or pass legislation on.

Well your brothers wife loves him. When you are talking about getting rid of guns maybe you should have a look at countries outside the US that do have gun controls how they are doing.

@FvckY0u well it stops stuff getting blown up with tanks for a start.
