In my working days when they were driving me crazy xanax was sometime like a lifeline. I took a smaller dose and only when I really needed it. Now the doctor won't give it to me. But now that I'm not working I don't really need it. I get the same effect from gin, although gin has worse side effects.

Xanax may kill you but only if you are famous. If you are famous someone will start saying you were murdered with this drug. I would just drink a six pack of Boston Lager and be relaxed. Think I'll get another one today.
Same here. Life in my mid 60s seems surreal enough, without adding mind-altering rec drugs to it.

Marijuana can cause anxiety too, if you are prone to schizophrenia it can trigger that too.

Not so far. I recently learned from my provider ( dealer) that i can either have weed that works on my constant pain or weed that gets me high. I chose the painkiller weed. It works! I am quite impressed with this stuff,
My usual beloved painkiller was oxycodone which almost killed me in combination with a malfunctioning Insulin pump, Almost! My family freaked out.
No more living alone in the house; no more driving. Thank goodness for music, memories of my previous life and my pets. And marihuana.
Once in a while I take a tiny dose (1/4 mg.) of Ativan, which is a benzodiazapine like Xanax, but shorter acting. If I have to get up really early for work, it helps me sleep, and goes away completely by the next morning. I would never take it on a daily basis though, and would never drink with it. That's how some people die accidentally.

I wonder why it is so much easier to get pot than xanax in my country. Pot makes me anxious

Xanax has some uses as a way to relax and help with anxiety, PTSD, etc. I would tell people to just use a little pot, which has fewer side effects. Also, that guy's prices are ridiculous. And, he won't respond to my messages; granted, my messages have been rather rude and not anything I would say to folks like you.

A little tequila and an edible gets me the best sleep. I only do it occasionally.
LIke me: just take your meds like a good patient, never look up side effects and add anything else that'll make you feel happy. That's what drugs are for. Just make certain no children visit or lock the meds up in your gun box.
Pro tip: When using xanax (valium) don't be cocky and get drunk or do any more downs. Friends had to give me a cold shower after a few xanax and drinks. Not good for life I assume.

Xanax isn't Valium. Valium is much safer and harder to get high off of. Xanax is alprazolam and Valium is diazepam.
@Beowulfsfriend Both are Benzodiazepines with Kolopin. They have mostly same effects one is slower. I have clonazapam for sleep. That's generic Kolopin. I believe.
I took xanax for over 20yrs for sleep, then husband died and doc upped me to valium didn't do a thing for me so I went to a neuro who put me on my current sleeping aids. Work like a charm been on them for about 10 yrs.

@K9JetLee999 I knew they were benzos. I have Valium and don't notice any physical effects when I use it, however it can make me calmer mentally and will assist in sleeping.
@Beowulfsfriend Has anyone else noticed as you get older you need better sleep meds? They said you don't need the sleep but for me without sleep meds I would/and have stayed up for 5 days in a row. By the end of it I was such a mess it took 2 days to catch up.

Xanax, Valium and diazepam are all branded tradenames for alprazolam and benzodiazepine both considered by the BMA to the same drug manufactured in a slightly different way.
The name Valium has such a bad reputation in the UK, that since the 1960s most people refuse to have it prescribed other than for epilepsy, it was rebranded as Diazepam in the 1990's here and soon got the same reputation for addiction and suicidal tendencies. About five years ago it was rebranded again as Xanax (but at one tenth the strength of US Xanax) and is currently causing yet another medical crisis in the UK even though it is a prescription only drug, there is a massive problem with illegal imports of US strength drugs and black market sales.
@LenHazell53 I always thought xanax was a generic valium.
