Things ended with the guy I was seeing, on Sunday. Today, I had to put my beloved cat down. Been a rough 5 days.

It's been close to two months. Just thought I'd check in to see how you're doing since having to put your friend down? Hope things have gotten somewhat easier.

@nutrition_nerd Just scrolling through some old posts and thought it would be rude to not inquire. I still have my 14 year old generic cat and my 10 year old Russian Blue. I'm trying really hard not to go out and get another Maine Coon.

Damn! ...and is the picture of you and your cat? Both pretty! Losing a pet is terrible. Period. Comfort? Chocolate. Maybe a mountain stream. Smile. A lot sucks. Please don't sit down in it. Best, Tex

Didja smile?

Absolutely gutting experience, probably the second worst next to losing my mom to cancer, was putting my 18 year old cat down in 2003. Being in the room for the process was heartbreaking. Still have his portrait and urn on the other side of the room. I'm truly sorry for the loss of your companion, the cat, not the dude.

@nutrition_nerd Yeah, last year I had a 16 year old cat with ear cancer and a 16 year old dog who went blind and incontinent that I had to have put down. I made it into the room but knew I couldn't hold it together so I had to leave, both times. Still too traumatic to go through the process again even 15 years later. Strange how some people view them only as animals and think they can be replaced like a pair of shoes.

@nutrition_nerd You're right, which is why when I eventually got another cat several years later, I made it a point to not get one that looked anything like Lynxie. It would've been to weird and not fair to the cat.

Sending thoughts and prayers.
Kidding. I know, not a time for levity but sometimes a bad joke can offer just a moment of respite from the grieving.
I’m truly sorry for your loss.

Damn.
A tough few days there.

Losing a pet is hard. I hope you find another to help get you back on a good emotional balance.

Losing a jerk boyfriend ? Meh. Not so much. It isn't fun getting back into the dating pool, but don't settle for less than you deserve. He's out there.

So you both lost a pussy...

Not funny.

@AtheistInNC well ...

@nutrition_nerd Good!

Really sorry about your cat.

Never mind about the guy, plenty more where he came from.

I am so sorry for your loss.

Aw. Been there, it’s horrible. Hugs ? x

I'm so sorry that happened to you. If I lived near you, we could meet for tea and comfort, then visit a shelter to pick up a new kitten, but I'm in Thailand.

That was brave of you to let a bad romantic deal go. Not easy to do.

Sorry about that but you will bounce back.

So sorry to hear. Hang in there.

Sorry. It may be cynical, but if the relationship has ended, it was probably for the best.
As for your feline friend, I know this can be devastating. I lost both my Girls of fifteen years in the last three months. Best thing is to embrace your grief, and in a few weeks, start looking for a new companion.
For me, deciding that I was to get a new cat improved my spirits.

Awww that's a shame My Heart goes out to you hun.. I have a few cats here too and they are all soo affectionate and I have this male he wonders away, disappears for three days at a time and if I don't see him by day three, yah I worry... then he comes back and I love him up.. My Gizzy she is really something special, she makes this cute gurgling noise when she purrs, she has a face like a gremlin hence the name Gizmo.. just to mention a couple.. 😉 not a hoarder but I have a few. As we speak Tabby was tapping at the window to get in.... little cool out tonight and perhaps a Koyote in the area..

Sometimes those little things we are attached to don't last (sorry for you). As for the cat, too bad that companion can't live as long as we would like.

Is that the kitty in the picture? Looks very affectionate
