The way I see it humanity has 1 of 2 choices.

The first choice is we demand that others choose the same path as us. Everyone acts in accordance with our own beliefs, understanding and perceptions. People must come to realize and accept that you are right and be as much like you as possible. We have tried ths approach time and again. It has led to conflict, lack of diversity, and stifling of creativity and progress. It assumes a uniformity that does'nt align with the complex nature of human beliefs and values. Is this choice possible?

The second choice is we love everyone and everything. We realize and accept that differences are what makes life worth living. We foster acceptance, love, and embracing diversity as essential components of a fulfilling and harmonious society. This choice recognizes the richness that differences bring to our lives, fostering understanding, learning, and growth. It echoes ideas of tolerance, empathy, and unity in diversity. We must strive for loving oneness. Is this choice possible?

How do these choices manifest themselves in your daily life and community?

It's time to make that choice.

Everyone acts and reacts in different ways. Even in church where the minister claims everyone is of the same mind, he is wrong. We are all different and have different ways of dealing with mental and spiritual things. This also changes over time. For example, I became friends again with a granddaughter in Texas after her mom died. She needed help to get through this and I explained her feelings and experiences to her. We are good friends today and I doubt she knows I am atheist. Her husband is a minister.

We don’t “have to” do shit.

I do not have to love everyone and everything!!! How infantile!!!!!
Glaring example, Drump and his ilk.......and what they have done to this country!

@FvckY0u even a tiny infant will scream at the sight/sound/approach of someone who has been nasty to it (even inadvertently).
You sound foolishly out of touch with reality

@FvckY0u speak for yourself...and you most def are living in some kind of Woo bubble nowadays
I remember when you came on here, not so long ago, a blubbering mess due to a divorce looming, and a lot of us supported you with kind words and ideas on coping, 99% from our own experiences.
Can you imagine how "helpful" the Woo you are posting now would have been to you then????????? (I'm thinking Enraging, actually)
Now you come on here ENDLESSLY lecturing/browbeating us about how we should think and act, and the advice is Totally Contrary to our experiences in life. Wen we tell you this, you get NASTY.
IMO you should change your site name to @Pollyanna.

Not everyone believes that "humanity has 1 of 2 choices", so your whole crappy diatribe is moot.

Go spew your vile religion somewhere else - like in a synagogue - where it will be appreciated.

Nasty religious f#ckh0le.

@FvckY0u
I have to laugh ... how many of those words did you have to look up (or didn't look up ... because some of them have no negative connotation) ?

The best example of diversity and unity was supposed to be the United States we are for sure the most diverse country but definitely not united. Given this fact do you think your two options are our only choices or even the best ones?

Will love matter when our planet becomes inhabitable? Nihilism is in fact the ultimate truth.

@Tejas That last comment explains a lot.

@Flyingsaucesir I mean unless you deny science our existence here is meaningless.

@Tejas Wow, that comment also says a lot about you. How exactly? I'll get to that. But first this: I'm a veteran science educator; the label "science denier" certainly won't stick. Yet I feel my existence has meaning. Maybe not on a cosmological scale, but in the context of a human life on Earth, yes. That feeling is made manifest when I run into a former student, and they say something like, "you really opened my eyes," or "damned if you weren't right about XYZ." I was part of the cohort of teachers that finally drove home the reality of climate change. My former students are now advocating and voting for the transition to green energy. It's a big deal in human history, and I played a small role in it. And any time I can help someone with a problem, I add a grain of sand to the positive side of the balance. Even if it's just picking a plastic bag out of the bay. I don't look for meaning to come from outside. We make (or discover) our own meaning.

If meaning eludes you, well, that's a sad state to be in. It probably explains your nihilism. If you don't want to go on being a sad mofo, try helping others.

@Flyingsaucesir our planet will be engulfed by our sun one day leaving nothing of our existence behind. So yes anything and everything on this planet is indeed pointless. The only real scale there is, is a cosmological scale.

@Tejas The sun is not scheduled to go red giant for at least another 2 or 3 billion years. An awful lot of biological evolution and technological advancement can take place in that time. So admit it: you have no idea where we'll be by then.

@Flyingsaucesir okay so you are science denying. Nothing can go faster than the speed of light junior. We don't live in the star trek universe, or Stargate or starwars. Literal dumbass

I wish we would just stop procreating

Stopping cold would not be helpful. Gradually slowing down to a more reasonable, non-zero rate would be best.

There is a thing called soft power that you use to encourage others to adopt your way of thinking. The Patriot Act changed that to "My way or the highway".
An example of soft power came up yesterday. Halloween is an American holiday that has been adopted in Australia. This celebration is an adoption of American culture by Australia, letting us learn about their culture and join in. It is inclusive power which brings peoples together. This is soft power influencing the world, no guns or sanctions needed. The arts do the same.

Sorry but life isn’t a ‘Ring around the Rosie’ game where we all gather together and sing ‘We are the world’.

There are sickos, half wits, jackasses and miscreants who want nothing more than to kill those who are different.

We are not limited to only those two choices. A third way is to love the things that are worthy and good, tolerate the things that you are not crazy about but are ultimately innocuous, and work to change the things that are objectively bad.

The second choice above is not realistic. Loving the likes of Adolph Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin, Pol Pot, the Hell's Angels, and Jack the Ripper is not an option.

Talk to me when your feet establish contact with the ground.

@FvckY0u I never said they weren't human. They're just bad. And if we have to smoke their sorry asses, no worries; there's always some killing to be done around the farm (paraphrasing a Tom Waits song 😂).

@FvckY0u Fine, but if they, or their minions, surrogates, or acolytes are threatening and killing you and yours, you're not going to stop them by recognizing their humanity.

@Flyingsaucesir sounds like your making an argument for the second amendment

@Tejas I have never argued for repeal of the 2nd Amendment. In fact, I've been a gun owner my whole adult life. At the same time, I don't think the 2nd Amendment guarantees civilians the right to keep modern, military-style weapons (like the AR-15). Obviously there has to be a limit to what is allowed. Stinger missiles are out. Rocket propelled grenades are out. Heavy machine guns, out. Light machine guns, out. Why are all of these obviously out? Because of their killing potential. And I argue that the AR-15, because of its high-powered cartridges, its potential for rapid fire even as a semi-automatic, its high magazine capacities, and the ease with which an empty magazine can be replaced by a fully loaded one, definitely makes it a full-on military weapon and not appropriate for civilian use.

@Flyingsaucesir all of those weapons are legal to own with proper paperwork and/or they are converted to semi automatic only. As for the rpg they are legal to own but the ammo is not unless again you have the proper paperwork. My uncle had a used law rocket launcher for years. I say that is your opinion if you believe civilians shouldn't own them, not common sense.

@Tejas Obviously I was talking about functional weapons with ammunition. Duh.

Yes, some individual collectors can qualify for special waivers or permits to possess otherwise prohibited weapons. This has little to do with mass marketing to the general public.

The 2nd Amendment stipulates a "WELL REGULATED Militia..." In other words, regulations (limitations) around possession/ownership are built into our laws from the constitutional level on up.

Note that the founding fathers realized the necessity to regulate the possession of arms even when a rifle or musket was only capable of being fired accurately twice in a minute, and the muzzle velocity was only 1200 fps. Now the semi-automatic rifle can be fired 120+ times per minute, and the muzzle velocity is 3,000 feet per second.

More firepower necessitates more regulation. Obviously.

Virtually everyone agrees that people who are mentally unstable, or have been convicted of a serious crime, should not have firearms. The question is, how shall we implement that? Age limits, background checks, red flag laws, laws against ghost guns, all have wide support.

Anyone who argues against closing the gun show loophole is not a serious interlocutor.

@Flyingsaucesir it's funny how you purposely misinterpret the 2nd amendment. Your opinions on this subject no longer interest me. Because all you have is opinions and emotions.

@Tejas I don't hear a cogent argument there. Get your shit together junior (if you want to be taken seriously).

@Flyingsaucesir I hope you don't hear anything as you are reading. I gave you reason logic and fact you gave me your opinions. You get your shit together, I don't see how you have such a strong opinion on something you know very little about.

The problem with loving everyone and everything and being accepting of others is that there are people who actively and sometimes violently oppose this and they will hurt and even kill those who are have decided to only love. Love doesn't stop fists, knives, or bullets. 😟

@FvckY0u Well, in my defense I'm a cynical pessimist.
