Hinduism is not behind Islam in promising virgins in heaven. Apasara are women who danced for gods.

When we were little, convenience stores in town always used bring out photo calendars at Diwali festival, they were 2 feet tall with 12 pages with sexy Bollywood actresses showing mid-riff that alone counted as sexy. We used to get one when we went to stores to buy candies and when we ran home to show it to Mom, she unmistakably told us to go and give it to the town's barber. Only men took haircuts and his walls were full these calendars. We had heavenly dreams of apsaras and marrying one after growing up.

Sex might feel transcendental, but the religious use of it is usually either tawdry, juvenile or hung up.

How else are you gonna convince the schmucks to strap on a bomb vest?

Hindus do not do bombs but we had a big appeal of heaven with beautiful women even as children.

@St-Sinner In Christianity they just make Heaven up. Very little is even said about it but believers will believe anything. They think they will have mansions there, etc. In my fathers house there are many mansions. OK. In my fathers mansion there are many houses.

Another Religion promising sex with beautiful virgin women. Where did the idea that sex with a virgin is a desirable thing? Much less 72 of them.

Absolutely correct. 🙂

Why specifically 72 virgins as well?

Can women have 72 handsome virgin men as a possible option if they’re deemed worthy of ascending to heaven?

I’m interested to know…..

I’d imagine that asking these types of questions would get me into trouble in certain situations.

@Zealandia

Ideas were given and written by men for men. There is a little good for women in Islam.

@St-Sinner Hahaha, yeah exactly.

I found your story of your childhood recollections interesting. Funny that your Mum told you to give the calendar to the local barber.

My mate in Oz (Australia) grew up as a Hindu, he’s rejected the faith though. He thinks religion is a waste of time. Although I say happy Diwali to him, it’s just like a greeting. He’s Fijian-Indian, his family bailed when the coup kicked off there.
