Last Sunday, on ABC’s “This Week,” host George Stephanopoulos asked New Hampshire’s Republican governor Chris Sununu about his recent switch from supporting former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley for the Republican presidential nomination to supporting former president Trump.
“Your words were very, very clear on January 11, 2021,” Stephanopoulos reminded Sununu. “You said that President Trump’s rhetoric and actions contributed to the insurrection. No other president in history has contributed to an insurrection. So, please explain.”
Sununu responded, “For me, it’s not about him as much as it is having a Republican administration.”
Near the end of the interview, Stephanopoulos said: “Just to sum up, you would support him for president even if he is convicted in classified documents. You would support him for president even though you believe he contributed to an insurrection. You would support him for president even though you believe he’s lying about the last election. You would support him for president even if he’s convicted in the Manhattan case. I just want to say, the answer to that is yes, correct?”
Sununu replied, “Yeah, me and 51 percent of America.”
Stephanpoulos: “I’m asking you about right and wrong. You’re comfortable with the idea of supporting someone who’s convicted of a federal crime as president?”
Sununu: “No, I don’t think any American is comfortable with any of this. They don’t like any of this, of course, but I mean, when it comes to actually looking at each of these trials as they kind of take place whether it’s this year or next year or as they kind of line up. Right now this is about an election. This is about politics.”
Hello? Politics is not about right and wrong?
I haven’t seen or heard a clearer indictment of the Trump Republican Party.
Friends, the Republican Party is over.

Sadly, the GOP is not over yet. However, they ARE a wholly owned and operated subsidiary of Vladimir Putin and the GRU. Their treason should be answered with the stated punishment for spies and traitors. We will likely need to establish a new form of citizenship that excludes their kind until they can prove otherwise.
This has been the biggest question I have for republicans I know that 'claim' they have high morals, are honest
and Christian caring; how do you square all that with supporting a man like trump? They admit he is flawed but can not provide any reason why or how he is better than Biden.
Do they not know who stupid they sound?
They are too immoral to realize how stupid they look.
The stupid do not know they are stupid because they are stupid. This is how stupid works.
The hypocrisy is staggering!! Are there any republicans left with morals and principles?
republicans with morals and principles?
Contradiction in terms
@LenHazell53 sadly, you are correct
I think the Democrat party has become extremely radical. Trump wasnt my first choice be he’s definitely better than Biden!!
The big question here is not about putting Trump or Biden to some comparison as to any personal preference. The big question is do you want to keep your Social Security or maybe give it to the top 1 percent.
trump was hoarding highly classified documents which he stole in a reckless manner. Almost anyone is a better choice than him.
Just explain how trump is better than Biden.
Really....give me some concrete statistics and examples on how that's true.
@Dave375 Hoarding? That's a unique description.
@Dave375, @silverotter11 Neither Trump or Biden are or were good Presidents.
@Alienbeing I disagree. Trump runs his mouth to much but he called out the Washington establishment and has been attacked viciously for it. I hope he is re-elected and fires a bunch of those SOB’s in Washington. In spite of his mouth he was a good president.
@Trajan61 HOW was he a good president?
@Trajan61, @Alienbeing Biden at least piloted the ship of state out of a bad economy - turning the U.S. economy around faster than any other nation following a world wide pandemic. He has worked on improving supply chains but the fact that over 1/2 of the inflation is caused by corporate price gouging is not on Biden but on the ineffective nature of Congress critters to do anything about price gouging.
I hgappen to like the fact Biden does not do the name calling and blaming others for his failures.
@silverotter11 Strong economy, more stability in the world, and a secure border to name a few.
@Trajan61 It was a strong economy for the top wealthiest everyone else was weel fucked over. The tax cut were always for the wealthy and all the low and middle income people I know where left wondering what the fuck happened to their tax cuts. The border issue is on the republicans, almost all of trumps border solutions who were found unconstitutional and not emforcable. The recent border proposal gave the republicans everything they asked for to secure the border and they refused to bring it the floor for a vote. The republicans do not want the border secure because they would rather use it for a political football in the 2024 election. It's harms everyone but the GOP really does not care.
OHand the ballsy shit right now from Iran? It's on trump, he took the U.S. out of the deal to monitor nuke making. A deal that was working btw. to reign in Iran.
@silverotter11 The appeasement of Iran by sending all that money by the Obama and Biden administrations is what caused todays problems in the Middle East. Not the Trump policies. Trumps foreign policy with Pompeo as Secretary of State was far superior to Obama’s or Biden’s. Biden opened the border on day one when he stopped contruction of the border wall and the cartels got the message as they took over the border. Trump lowered the corporate tax rate which was one of the highest in the world under Obama and small business like mine certainly benifited.
@Trajan61 The money was always Iran's money. We did not send them tax payer dollars, it was Iranian money the U.S. had frozen. The border was closed under Title 42, once there was no longer a declared pandemic or health crisis Biden could no longer by law keep the border closed. There was a request to congress to pass legislation but it did not get done.
The corporate tax rate was highest under Eisenhower.
By the way most of the illegal drugs are being brought over the border by Americans. Just sayin'
@silverotter11 I know it was Irans money but it should have been forfeit because of Iran supporting terrorist groups like Hezbollah and Hamas.
@silverotter11 Corp "price gouging" did not cause inflation. Excessive Federal spending caused inflation.
Last, exactly what "price gouging" can you point to?
@Alienbeing The spending during the pandemic actually helped the U.S. economy turn around after the pandemic faster than any other nation. Inflation also happens after every major crisis. Once the crisis was declared over corporations continued to raise prices even as the supply chain issues leveled out. Sadly one area where prices are going to continue high is in the chicken/egg area. Bird flu continues to be a problem in the U.S.
@silverotter11 While Federal spending may have helped "turn around" certian issues it also was the main contributor to inflation. Economics 101 clearly shows how an excess money supply causes inflation.
What also contributed, and continues to contribute to inflation is the large increase in oil price. Everything sold must be delivered and to deliver it gas &/or oil is used. Farmers use oil derivatives to fertilize, then ship it to market or a processor, then it is shipped to a wholesaler or retailer, ALL of those shipments used and continue to use oil at higher levels than prior to covid. the same is true for manufactured items.
While some corporations may have increased prices more than necessary, they were not even close to the main cause.
@silverotter11 Excessive government has caused runaway inflation the worst we’ve had since Carter. We need to get rid of a bunch of people in Washington particularly Democrats to get it under control.
@Trajan61 Inflation emerges when the demand for products and services exceeds the supply. This round of inflation was caused by a breakdown in the supply chain along with an increase in demand. The pandemic was responsible for the supply chain and government spending (i.e. stimulus) was responsible for the increase in demand. That’s as simple as it gets, although there were some missteps along the way. For example, the Federal Reserve was far too late identifying inflation in its early days, choosing to frame it as transitory. As a result, the Fed kept interest rates too low for too long. Congress was guilty of massive spending increases, which caused demand to surge. In short, an artificially induced demand and a drastic shortfall in supply were the culprits in creating inflation. A U.S. president has very little to do with inflation, although they usually get the blame when the conversation turns political, which is nearly always. Who’s to blame? Our fingers should be pointing at Congress and Covid-19.
