If the Republicans really want to "make America safe again", this is what they should do:

  1. . Ban the sales to private citizens and private militias of all semiautomatic rifles and pistols, bump stocks and high capacity magazines to any private individuals or militias.

  2. . Issue a gun buyback program for all such weapons.

  3. Pass minimum sentence as follows for the commission of any crime using a gun::
    a. 2 year sentence for any crime not resulting in physical injury or death.
    b. 10 years for any crime resulting in physical injury, but not death.

  4. Make it a felony for anyone to use to threaten or intimidate another, punishable by both fine and a 1 year sentence.

  5. Get tough on all forms of scams -- on line, telephonic, written, or in person.

    1. Ban the sale and use of equipment masking telephone numbers.

If we did that we would become like Mexico and only the bad people would have guns!

Criminals will just continue to ignore gun regulations the same way they ignore laws on robbery, assault, and even murder. Passing more laws making murder super illegal won’t stop criminals from continuing to kill innocents, the same way new gun laws won’t stop criminals from illegally bringing firearms into gun-free zones.

Many advocates of gun control argue that voluntary buyback programs will get many guns off the streets, making them much safer for everyone. Unfortunately, the history of buybacks in this country argue otherwise.

In fact, the types of guns confiscated in buybacks aren’t the ones typically used in crimes.

Guns collected at buyback events are usually nonfunctioning guns or guns that were sitting unused, such as inherited firearms.

Some entrepreneurial individuals even take advantage of buyback programs and make their own guns to hand for a nice profit.

Simply banning firearms and confiscating them does not definitively have any impact on firearms-related homicides, nor homicides in general.

Ultimately, the problem to be solved is likely not a gun problem, but a crime problem in general.

Until we can all agree on the best way to address the root of the problem, the best thing we can do is to stay armed, keep practicing, and support the 2A groups that continue to protect our rights everyday.

Mass killings of civilians by military dictatorships in the 1900s were more often than not preceded by the confiscation of firearms from targeted populations, a task made easier by laws requiring the registration and/or licensing of privately-owned weapons.

A little history for you;

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.

China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million educated people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: 56 million.

You ignore the PROVEN fact that criminals don't obey laws, that is why they are called criminals.

Not a bad list, although the fear of the US military Complex and US turning into a police state. The military would have to get rid of most of their fire arms and the US prison carry 25% of the worlds population prisoners. US has 5 times more prisoners and 10 times above the average countries defense military budgets To where US military is the best terrorist group along with Isrealis.
Clean all that first than lower the last stage of defence of the American people, their guns. When the citizens have no defense, we know what happens throughout human history of government scammers and corporations mad greedy will do to them. There are already at the top of their chess game now. Politics is the entertainment program for the US military Complex. And the BRICS is the game changer of more than equal power.

When I don't get a response from an American about the US military Complex. Because it's the deepest darkest secrets of shame possible.

Like asking my grandma a deep question, that she avoid about the family tree. That's where the source of the problem is.

@Castlepaloma Or maybe your "understanding" is so faulty your comment is merely ignored.

This would be a great start but Republicans would more likely do the opposite.
