You know, when people say "if you hate this country so much, then leave" my initial retort is, GIVE ME THE DAMN MONEY AND CITIZENSHIP VISAS ALLOTTED BY THE COUNTRY I WISH TO LIVE IN, then I will. Why are right-wing Americans such fucking douchebags?

Because many of them are just not that smart. And the rest are racist / super greedy. They believe the BS they've been fed ever since Reagan. Big Lie number one: That Republicans are better than Democrats at handling the Economy. The truth is here: [aeaweb.org] Take that away and they have nothing but the racists left...

They don't understand there are always going to be at least 2 points of view-left and right. Now we have many more sub-groups. The right winged are always going to say that because they only see one party and one way to govern. Short sighted, narrow-minded and indoctrinated in one political party is why they like to argue with anyone else.

With all the problems we face and based upon the extensive travel I have done ( 92 different countries) I feel really blessed to have been born and live in the USA. Compared to the many problems other countries face, food ,water, government, medical facilities, housing we are still among the top few to live in. Just ask those who are placing their lives in danger to come to the USA what they are leaving behind. Drug gangs that are the government, food and water shortages, no medical or medicine, police states. We can cure trumpie but it is difficult to cure the prior for an entire country.

They were brought up that way..and they use that as an intimidation tactic..

In the early Merle Haggard days I was listening to his music and "love it or leave it" was a big thing with many of us. America has changed much since then. At least, some of us like to think so. Today the right has said there should be no problems as long as the immigrant "carries his papers" with him. They say this time and again but there are no papers to carry. Homeland Security (before Trump anyway) said that the green card should be safely stored away in a similar manner as we are told to do with our social security cards. People ignore that and we all carry social security cards in our billfold. We move closer all the time to an America where you are stopped and do not have "the right papers" and you are arrested or hauled away. A passport should suffice as enough but you do not have to carry that with you either. Not so long ago people wanted to know if a Native American Congressman had the "right papers." When "Joe Redneck" is the sheriff or deputy and has no knowledge of these things why are we wanting him to enforce them so much?

My knowledge on some of these things stems from the fact that I did all the paperwork for my now ex wife and brought her here from Kenya. We were married 12 years and she is now a US citizen complete with passport. VisaJourney (an Internet site) assisted me with their knowledge of the many ways of immigration. What I am writing is valid if you have active paperwork on file with Homeland Security along the lines of the immigration you are seeking. It does NOT apply for someone who simply shows up on American soil.

I hate my home country (or it hates me, not sure which is more correct), so I left. It is not easy, but if you think things are not going to change or are just too bad, that is the only way. And you will be accepted somewhere else if you have anything to offer to the new land.

The fact that you are not willing to go through the trouble of getting a visa, and/or a new job, can be seen as a demonstration that you are not as unhappy about the country as you claim to be.

Studies show that when both alt-right and liberal people take a political survey, then are given a calming session of yoga, where they are led in imagining themselves safe and happy, then take a similar survey afterward, the alt-right people's answers will now match those of the liberals.

It's FEAR that drives the alt-right, and makes them obedient to someone they think will protect their rights.

Yes and to a certain extent we are all driven by fear. I live in a town which is 47 percent Hispanic. I am more afraid of those who are afraid of the Mexicans than the Mexicans. Of course difficulties will arise in multi cultural settings but respect for human rights is a good starting point. I lived in another country for two decades and am grateful for having the opportunity to learn about a different culture. I have two militant Trump supporting family members. We can't even find out if there is common ground as they are so fanatical, they won't engage in discussion. That fact makes me afraid.
