I just watched a commercial for Botox for Men. While I realize that my vision is extremely poor, and things are not always as they appear, the models they used in the ad didn't even look like real people. I get that some folks think using Botox makes them look better and younger, I really do, but I think it just makes them look fake and really weird. Definitely less human-looking, that's for sure.

My young SIL does this and it messes up her expression in the eyebrows and makes her look a little bit "plastic" in the forehead. Shame as she is a beautiful woman as it is and should just let herself be.
She should just accept that her tanning addiction has a price.

Tanning always comes back to bite those who do it to excess.
Unless you're George Hamilton. In his case, you just start hawking
fried chicken.

Yes ...I quit tanning in my early 20's, had my share of damaging burns growing up, "they" say most of our sun damage happens before age 18. 😟 Later I forgot to protect my "decolletage"
😟 Which was one of my crowing features young. One day I woke up with sleep lines that wouldn't go away. Sigh... That was VERY humbling. Getting old isn't for sissies that's for sure!

@Qualia I overdid the sun, too, when I was younger. Stopped in my mid-20s. Been living in a vat of moisturizer ever since.

@KKGator the next generation will benefit from the new awareness I think. Altho my kid has had a couple nasty burns in her life I used to helicopter her with sunblock because she is PAPER WHITE. I look like a person of color next to her. LOL SHE has the sort of "moon tan" that makes it seem she's been locked in a closet her whole life. LMAO

It creeps me out when I see no lines on a person.

Personally, I just don't understand why someone would want to be injected with a paralyzing toxin that can kill just for cosmetic reasons. I understand for migraines (I never suffered from them, however my father and sister did so I know how bad they can be).

Don't like needles. And in regard to something like this for myself, the old adage "lipstick on a pig" comes to mind. Though, I'd prefer jackass to pig as a comparison, it's more accurate.

I suspect the male actors in the Botox commercials were not actual patients administered Botox. Usually there's a disclaimer in small print. I'll have to do some research.

It bothers me a lot that these commercials and other ones for older people skin care use 25 year old models

I get medical Botox for muscle spasm - for migraines.

They tried injecting me one time in my temples and forehead. (It did not help my migraines - (they try various patterns until they find one that works well).

Never again.

Could not raise an eyebrow to save my life! It was horrible. I mean sarcasm anyone??

Also I don't have wrinkles and when I do I'll have earned them! lol (Also wrinkles are partially genetic.... So I suppose if I had them in my 20s maybe I'd have considered it).

I've definitely heard of using Botox to treat certain medical issues.
I just don't get the whole vanity thing. I never have.

@KKGator I don't either. I like wisdom lines.

And truly not being able to raise an eyebrow? Not happening again.

My Dr kind of had a chuckle over that one.

@RavenCT I've noticed a lot of women who get Botox always seem to have a look of fake surprise.

@KKGator Thankfully my eyebrows rested at their natural level! lol

I still remember an interview with Cher where she had to use her hands to express herself. It's funny in retrospect? But why would you have that done to yourself?

@RavenCT Beats the hell outta me. I can't imagine feeling so insecure about my looks that I'd allow anyone to come at my face with a scalpel.
Then again, I've never considered myself "pretty", and didn't spend much time focusing on my looks. I worry about them even less now. LOL

@RavenCT, @KKGator It's got to be hell in our society to be an aging woman in the entertainment industry. The stress & expectations are so high. & while a man ages & grows 'distinguished', a woman does & is called old, often "too" old!

@phxbillcee Precisely why I turned down Cecil B. DeMille, when he wanted to cast me in The Ten Commandments. Who needs that aggravation? 😉

@phxbillcee I've had medical Drs tell me I don't look my age (I look younger) I'm sticking with that.

But it's all genetics. I have never slathered my face in miracle creams or put Botox in lines (What lines?).

Also some win in the other direction.
I have a nurse in her 30's who was thinking about Botox for her face - but she looked like a Shar Pei and I understood that.

There is some hint it can make all parts look younger don't know about looking fake?

I just can't imagine feeling the "need" to look any other way but the way nature intends. I realize it's just me, but I don't like artificial means to
alter my appearance. Okay, except the occasional haircut.

I read about that one. Could NOT believe it. lol
