The perfect catch?
Is your ideal mate, ideal for you? I mean, once you get past the perfect hair. smile, body, or whatever outward appearance that attracted to you in the first place.
Is that person, genuine, honest and follow similar morals as you?
Are you treated well? Is this person, caring, attentive, observant and interested in being with you as a person, not just your body?
So often we trade in that perfect body, smile, or whatever... for self worth. Why give into the social label of what is good looking, only to be treated badly, yelled at, beaten, or emotionally abused?
I hear so many people talk about not being shallow and being open and yet, that is all it is, just talk. The defense is, "Well, I am attracted to bad boys", or "Party girls" I can't help it" but the truth is you can, help it, you just decide not to...
Just a reminder that a person that is loyal, who is honest, compassionate, mentally stable and actually cares for you... may very well be a better catch than that ideal body type that you constantly hold out for and that you may be happier if you start looking for a companion and not an accessory.
Anyway, that's my two cents on the subject.

Call me picky but I won't settle, I'm shallow. 🙂

There is no such thing as a perfect match, but I miss having a dog!

I agree with you completely...when I was a little girl, my mom told me not to worry too much about being beautiful because beauty fades. Instead, be interesting, compassionate, funny....

As a teenager I was attracted to bad boys but luckily I grew up. Also if I meet a good looking guy and he opens his mouth to speak and he can't have a decent conversation, he becomes less attractive. I'm still a sucker for great eyes and a big smile. And ultimately his inner warmth and being will be what keeps me interested

Great eyes, check... Big smile, check... I can have a decent conversation check......... but if I feel intimidated by your beauty then game's over. I suffer Raj Koothrappali's syndrome !!! ??

@IamNobody who is Raj?? I'm still half asleep and not ready to Google

@AmelieMatisse he is the Indian dude in The Big Bang Theory TV sitcom. He gets frozen when in presence of beautiful woman

@IamNobody he's the best character on that show!

@Presley1209 Agree... I got to say, I kind of like them all. I have been watching since the begining (pun intended here) and they have grown on me. Everyone has peculiar reasons to make them likeable

@IamNobody oh I don't watch television. Guess I'm missing something....or not!

@AmelieMatisse ....oh you are not missing anything at all. TV sitcom is just one more thing life has to offer.

I have often thought that a better culture might exist if was a way to remove physical appearance from the equation entirely. It's such a superficial basis for any kind of interaction (and yes, I do mean any kind). I have found that people who spend large amounts of money or time on their appearance really can be so in love with themselves that they are looking for admirers, not an actual relationship. And if you hope to have a lifetime relationship with someone you have to recognize (I believe) that physical change is inevitable -- or you can become a science project.

@Beach_slim Of course I think people should consider their health when making life decisions. I just find narcissism unattractive.

The post was generalized and it of course does not apply to everyone. Those who it does apply to, might consider a new perspective... Those who it does not apply to, why worry about it?

This is my perfect match.

I've been learning on how to respect myself and think of myself as beautiful now. It was hard this week though. I posted about a hot guy that keeps running into me, he's interested. I met him at Wal-Mart. Lol.

@Beach_slim Thanks.

@Beach_slim, @irascible I'm learning.

Physical appearance is not what I’m attracted to initially. First, it’s their intelligence, the amount of joy, and happiness the person has. Their wit. Their capacity for kindness, compassion. Their willingness to accept me as I am, as I do them. Their understanding of the need for personal time and space...and so much more. That is what makes them attractive. If the inside is beautiful, it shows on the outside. I’m attracted to the person, not the shell.

Where have you been my whole life ??????? 🙂

I got lucky.

Making me laugh is important to me.

It's a myth about all women being attracted to bad boys. It's not true.

Intelligent women steer clear of bad boys because they realise life is difficult enough and they don't need any more garbage to deal with.

People are never so simple, some women want to play the martyr or don't want to commit themselves so they chose someone appropriately inappropriate. More common I think I think they just like the boyness more than they dislike the badness. Dash, charm and unconventionality are frequently accompanied by some macho jerk qualities.
