One of the things that delight and intrigue me on this site, where religious influence is noticeable by it's absence is the freedom for people to share openly and free of fear....I have been on the Internet for some 30 years or so..whenever it and my new Apple IIe became friends...never before the admission of so many bi-sexual friends, acquaintances and, friends yet to meet...WELCOME to my world of loving PEOPLE, not genders....MUAH

When I am tense, I just go to this site. Here, I find peace, reason and truth. I love this place.

I use FB for various I worked with, and places I've been to,yes, anger is just under the surface for some topics,so I try to limit my responses to subject at hand, and not go off on some tangents.

I have to say. I am ecstatic to have stumbled across this wonderful place! I gave Facebook a try a few years ago when I was told while studying for a graphic design degree that I would need a Facebook account, but I found so much hostility on there and things that were posted by people I thought I knew sharing things that had been so full of hatred and open bigotry I just could not bring myself to use it anymore. I have not logged on for over two years now. I am of the mind where it takes a lot to offend me, I grew up in a family where we were tsught "if you can't laugh at yourself you haven't earned the privilege to laugh at anyone else" but certain comments by some family members and close friends on facebook had been nothing more than a display of what I call selective ignorance(they know it is wrong but say so for attention or to agitate, hurt with no willingness to reflect on why it is bothersome) which that absolutely does offend me! I feel here is the one place I've found online that even though we may not always agree there's a shared openess, mindfulness and a willingness to re evaluate and come to some understanding withiut getting nasty. I am certain that it would blow the minds of many to know that one of the kindest places to be found on the internet is one designed for people who live without religion.

well I still use FB, simply because years ago i learned i could not be offended since i always try to look at both sides, like a coin heads and tails, that have not clue the other side exists...but the value is the coin itself...but, aside from that I LOVE YOUR POST.

@NormCastle I think I had erred in better explaining my intent. I am prone to digressing every now and then and wind up leaving myself open for misinterpretation. Typing things out on a phone makes that even more likely. I am like you in that nothing really offends me anymore. I'm no snowflake even if I melt like one in the summer heat! I couldn't be even if I tried, not when my grandmother lovingly dubbed me "the crunt of misery" A title which to be worn with pride! Haha. There's nothing better than being roasted every now and then by the people you love most! What I meant to say is what turned me off from facebook was the mis-information that so many intelligent people on both ends of the spectrum were willing to share as facts to use against one another, without fact checking. It was too much for me. Not my being offended, but saddened to see people treat one another human being that way. Best part is at least here I am confident I won't get woken up at 3 A.M. by an angry call from my in laws about some stupid thing I posted in jest not even directed towards anyone in particular!

@NormCastle btw the coin metaphor was brilliant way to describe it! Just between you and I, well and I suppose everyone else who may just happen to read this. I do sometimes put on Fox news to try and understand. I flip back and fourth (theres the coin) as major news happens. I find it interesting in how a few slight variations in a single headline can change the meaning so drastically.
