I can't read something like this and not think of the character Delores from WestWorld. She started out saying "I choose to see the good in this world" and now she's devolved into an authoritarian ruler. Which reminds me of Christians I grew up with who had this rosy view of an ideal world with rainbows and unicorns if you're good / worthy enough but then there's this ruthless side that stops at nothing to have worldly power to bring that rosy world to pass, by force if need be ...
