Godspeed: what is it and what genius decided such a term was needed?

Is it fast? Slow? How is it measured? Is it maybe just the wrong answer to a common question from a state patrolman?

I've always liked it as a farewell to a fellow aviator upon their death. You wish them "Godspeed!" As they "Fly West".

Hi, Chalup, and welcome to the website,

You earn website points, and help other members get to know you better, when you write an informational profile that includes your hobbies and interests, and answer all the profile questions, since that's the first place many people look when they see a new member.

The website also uses profile details to find member matches, if desired.

You make comments and write your own posts to earn more points and privileges; for instance, at level two you can private email people. You get different perks with each level, and when you reach level eight you get an agnostic T-shirt.

To find members near you, click on the "Meet" button at the top of the page, then on "Members," and enter your preferred search parameters.
Or click on the "About" button at the top of the page to find links to FAQ or the website tutorial.

Yeah, so I googled before posting, but still figured that given the nature of this group, the term might spark some fun conversation. Happy Friday, everybody!

I don't know who but I do like it. I take the God out of it and think that someone who is saying it to me is wishing me good luck and all that comes with it. Not every one who uses that term is a believer.

It quite simply doesn't exist.

LOL, love the way your mind works..

I imagine it's a contraction of "God speed you on your way" or something similar, when someone is setting off on a journey.

Meaning; god be with you, a prosperous and successful journey. Has nothing to do with speed. Just more god bot talk.
