So, leaving religion out of it...do you believe in anything "supernatural"?
Nope. Not even slightly.
My ex wife swore our basement was haunted. Not the whole house, just the basement.
Yes, as many have said, gods are just archetypes and euphemisms for forces we can't comprehend with our 5 senses... like air or gravity. all of our scientific findings are little more than linguistic and mathematical representations of these same forces that we have as a society, chosen to define through language and such as opposed to anthropomorphic archetypes. through the evolution of language we use words like "orbit" instead of "dude in a chariot pulling the orb of light around the planet." just think, we can only percieve 3 colors of the light spectrum (we deem as primary colors), yet there are creatures such as butterflies that can see 24 or more colors than our human minds can even comprehend. who knows what that truly entails...
I am happy to believe in something supernatural, whatever that term means, as long as I have been given proof beyond a reasonable doubt in the way of evidence. So far it's a big fat NO. There have been several large money prizes for anyone who can prove any of these powers exist but noone has ever collected. [en.wikipedia.org]
Notably James Randi offered $1 000 000 (US) for two decades!!
I think Bugs Bunny is real, but I can't prove it
No. It has no real connection to reality. I do like to watch Carrie: a move about a girl with supernatural telekinetic powers, though hahaha!
Nope.
The wilder the claim, the more strict I am at requiring evidence.
I also substitute my own definitions for some things...makes me feel better about using certain terms....
for example..."soul"
I define it as "the true nature of something or at the heart of the matter"
So when I say that something effects my soul, I simply mean that it has effected the heart of who or what I am.. a soulmate would be someone who I connect with on a very deep level.
Faith would be simply things that I have not taken the time to examine for proof, and just accept evidence from others. There aren't a huge number of things that I take on faith, but they are there and important sometimes.
I have faith in things like when my wife or kids or mom say they love me, I accept it. I don't have to challenge it every time.
I don't have faith in things like ghosts, God, the Devil, and stuff like that. They require proof.
I have faith in some science topics simply because I trust the ones that have the brain power to understand them. It's not absolute, just a everyday working process.
