To be or not to be ?
To be what? I never understood the question. Damned Shakespeare.
To be, or not to be, that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take Arms against a Sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them: to die, to sleep
No more; and by a sleep, to say we end
the heart-ache, and the thousand natural shocks
that Flesh is heir to?
When asked question like this, I just try to get over it ASAP. ....scares me.
A poorly sold film. One of Arnie's best if watched as a parody and not a standard action film.
It depends what you see and how you see it...
Classic Shakespeare quote.
Each of us must find our own answer to this question.
At this time, I am rather fond of life so the current answer is "To be".
In my opinion It is often sad when some young (40's and below) people in good physical health decide "not to be" as this outcome destroys, for them, all chance for potentially greater outcomes.
I have know several young people make that choice. The saddest was a young woman who, according to the note her friends found beneath her hanging body read, "I have killed myself so I can live in heaven with Jesus and my dead father."
It is so very sad. Like Hamlet's predicament, too many serious issues for a developing mind. I tried not to be at 17, botched the attempt and lived very, very grateful ever since.
@brentan Glad you botched it at 17 and were able to enjoy the increased happiness in later years.
For some, myself included, later years are, on many levels, more enjoyable then earlier years.
@NoMagicCookie Thanks a lot!
