When the republicans own survey shows that a single payer health system is the lowest cost they are not willing to accept the facts and refuse to produce a single payer system for health insurance. How do we make them understand?

"But we can't afford it!"
"Where will the money come from?"................

........We could start with the $3 trillion (est.) spent every year on premiums and deductibles.

Too simple ?

the republicans, meaning those in power, already do understand. they don't care. it is not to their advantage to have everyone strong and healthy. strong, healthy people can afford to pay attention to the corruption around them and try to stop it. sick, hungry people don't always have the energy or means to do anything about that. when romney was running for president, his wife said something about "the nail lady." to people like that, we're all "the nail lady." we shouldn't even exist except to do mrs. romney's nails. otherwise we don't count at all.

the republicans, meaning those who vote in the republicans in power, can't be taught this. they're brainwashed by the republicans they've voted into power. i am speaking as if the republicans actually GOT voted into power; gerrymandering and other voter suppression has caused them to gain power that they were not actually granted willingly.

We have not seen anything yet. Computers, robots and AI will soon remove most jobs from manufacturing and many other jobs. Gene changes by the wealthy will create a super race and the average person will just die out or become expensive slaves to maintain. The next 50 years will see many changes and it is questionable if they will be good.

@Marine they cannot create a super-race. they have no idea what that would BE, and the evangelicals wouldn't allow it anyway (not crediting the evangelicals with good sense, just plain old fear). there would be NEW jobs despite robots -- computers create jobs, after all -- except for so many jobs being outsourced to third- and fourth-world countries because slave labor is so cheap.

@genessa The evangelical movement is a tempory fluke for the republicans ,they will get rid of them when they don't need them anymore. Gene therapy is coming like it or not and there will be a super race started within the next 50 years. There will be new jobs created but the question is will the average person be able to do ihem.. We now have machines that can repair themselves and this technology will improve in the coming years. The technology that is coming will be outstanding but may leave the common person in the poor house if there is one to be had.

@Marine maybe, but i think this was predicted, slightly differently, a lot longer than 50 years ago, and the timeline just keeps getting adjusted. i'd rather concentrate on rehumanizing our government and our citizens than worrying about robots at this point.

@genessa Read S Hawkings last book that just came out . it is worth the money

America is the only developed nation where the life expectancy is decreasing yet health expenditures more than tripled everyone else’s. Its a trend that obviously can’t continue but they won’t acknowledge that.

1

They don't care. all conservatives are violently against making sure all are insured. Even if it's cheaper,in their eyes, it's socialism. America is about letting the poor die if they don't have money for treatment.

1

They are bought and paid for. In the Nixon years a man came to Dick with a proposal that some health insurance companies wanted to make some money. I think this is covered in an older Michael Moore film. The GOP has taken this money ever since as a lobbying "gift." The only way they will understand is to vote them out.

1

You need to Vote them out!!!
They "understand" perfectly, that those under the table big $$$$ from Big Pharma would dry up with a reasonable system!

1

well first vote them out if possible, but the biggest problem and one that we are going to have a very hard time to eliminate is that big business truly does run this country now and it is very wrong, when a corporation has final word over a citizen we have truly arrived at George Orwell's 1984.

2

I think they do understand. Motivations are usually not what's in the best interest of the American people, or even America in general, but for profits.

If by "we", you include me, I don't want what you want.

sorry hoping the majority sees the light of the survey paid for by the koch brothers.

@Marine it's results are completely opposite anything the Kochs would want....where the heck did That thought spring from?????!

2

The only way we can do this single payer system is to retake Congress both house and senate. They will oppose anything unless we have control to pass this without a single republican voting for it.
