It's truly hilarious to sit and watch both sides of this political shit show. Both sides lie to everyone, both sides are the most corrupt organizations on Earth, I often feel alone while watching you idiots actually feed into the politics. All you have to do is vote every 2 years, other than that 99.999% of your opinions don't matter. I think if we would pack all the baby boomers into the camps we'd see alot more peace. The despicable policies of this administration are just a reflection of the diseased mind behind them with an assist from the R party which has sold its soul for money and power. I've never been more disgusted with what this country represents than I am right now.

I think @LiterateHiker knows I'm a conservative Republican. I respect her views and her right to encourage folks to vote Republicans out of office. That freedom is what makes our country work. So, with that said, I'll side with those saying the current treatment of potential immigrants is appalling. And, WE NEED IMMIGRANTS. Our birthrate is falling. To continue with an economic model where increases in productivity are vital, we need a growing workforce. Japan is a good example of the problem of lack of population growth. So, treating our potential new citizens this way is self destructive to our economy and our country.

Our country has lost it's dignity because of this horrible treatment of other human beings. VOTE out every Republican you can. They are a blot on this country and a blot on humanity.They lack courage and are morally corrupt as are those who support them.

What is happening at the border and throughout the country in concentration camps (sanitized version: detention camps) is horrific, and being done with our tax money. Worse, it's not just Republicans. Democrats won the House majority in 2018 and yet voted three weeks ago to expand the concentration camp system with $4.6 billion in "emergency humanitarian aid" - House Bill 3401 contains exactly zero accountability for how the money will be spent and how asylum seekers should be cared for and protected. With fresh funding, HHS will extract more children from families and funnel them into the for-profit foster-care system. CBP will expand their culture of abuse and ridicule. More and larger concentration camps will be built, others expanded. The list of atrocities is long, some described in the Slate article. As the majority, Democrats had to power to end these atrocities by refusing to fund them, but they capitulated to Democratic leadership and their donors, the for-profit corporations who take the money while asylum seekers suffer and die. This is a subject that touches me deeply, personally, with members of my extended family and in my community directly impacted. We need not only to elect Members of Congress who will do the right thing (which SHOULD be Democrats), but then we must hold them accountable for their votes. 95 Democrats understood the grave consequences of the bill and voted against it (including of course "the squad" - Tlaib, Omar, Ocasio-Cortez and Pressley). If you are represented by a Democrat, look at how they voted. Hold them accountable if they voted "Aye" on HR 3401. Sorry/not sorry for the rant. It's all so heartbreaking....
