People are, however, buying Tesla EVs in record numbers. With the Shanghai factory opening Oct 14, 2019, it seems Tesla is about to double it's yearly sales. Moreover, the autopilot is, arguably, ready for robotaxi. I believe the Chinese will be the first to allow robotaxis. That means we are about to see Teslas driving 90% of the time, instead of sitting parked 90% of the time. Instead of carrying one person to work and home, they will carry dozens of people to work and home, and everywhere. The average person will not purchase a car.
