Brought up 2 kids mostly on my own so i And both my kids cook pretty well.

Tbh I'm always stunned when guys seem to brag that they can't cook. Imo that's something to be ashamed of. Everybody should know how to prepare nutrious food

I saeldom cooked until retirement. Now I have a pretty good reportoire of recipes and cuisines and cook more than half the time in our household. I enjoy cooking today.

I'm one hell of a gourmet cook myself but I don't particularly enjoy cooking I'm just damn good at it (and enjoy the results). I think it's great for any man to know how to cook.

Dude what rock have you been under?? Guys being able to cook is HOT!! It's fun to cook with your sweetie in the kitchen and not just in the bedroom. The only time I'd say the male in the home gets a pass is if he is the sole income provider. If both are working both need to do the up keep around the home. JMO

My ex husband used to complain that I didn't have his dinner on the table by 6pm every night, even in the middle of summer when it was way to hot to eat, let alone cook, and he was a perfectly good cook himself.
His current wife could burn water so he does all the cooking, so much for his dinner waiting for him at 6pm.

Why would that be something bad?? Are you kidding?? As a woman I honestly think a man who can cook is hot as hell! And a man that cleans up after himself when cooking... forget about it!

What? Bad? How can being more capable ever be bad? Cooking is one of the most practical things a man can do. It's only this damn fool Anglophone culture that pushes the idea that cooking is confined to women and specialised technicians.

Cooking is not gender-specific. My mother wasn't a good cook and has never apologized for it. Not her thing. Meanwhile, ever notice there are way more male chefs than female chefs?

Learned in the Boy Scouts how to cook over a small fire. A man who cooks is not somehow less of a man. A "man" can care for himself and does not need to be dependent (can cook for himself) on anyone else. I have been married three times (still married to the last...for more than 25 years) and was/am a better cook than any of them. It is also noteable that my mother was a lousy cook...had to learn in my own self defence.

My mother and ex wife are not great cooks. I could always burn meat on a bbq, just fine. But becomming a single dad 25 years ago meant proper cooking, decent balanced meals for my kids on a non existent budget. Baking birthday cakes for them to take to school, you name it. I had worked in a bakery as a kid and could bake a loaf of bread. I was lucky, I was a business consultant helping new business start up, some of those were restuarants, so I learned some tricks. 25 years later, nothing daunts me, I look at what ingredients I have and create something, no recipe, no name and 80% of the time it is delicious. Can never repeat them exactly though. 15 years ago my son asked him to cook, the ladies love it. My daughter has never had any interest and does not cook.

I find this an interesting question because I've found in many cultures the attitude from men is that cooking is women's work. Yet, in many countries including the US, the person cooking your favorite dish in most of your favorite places to eat, is male. The cooks in militaries are usually male and most chefs are male. So, where does this "cooking is women's work" attitude come from? I think cooking is easy. If you can follow a recipe, you can cook. You'll need the proper tools: pots, pans, utensils, a stove, an oven, and all the ingredients. Now, baking, that is something I'd like to learn, too. Personally, I think, but don't know for sure, that women, love men more, who can cook.

I love cooking for others. I don't like to cook for myself

I've been raised in a fammily where everyone can cook. And in general no housework at home was considered "man's" or "woman's" work. So I consider cooking a core skill that everybody should have at least at some basic level.
I personally learned my first kitchen opeartion (boiling pasta) at the age of 8 and for sure I am no stranger in the kitchen. I enjoy cooking and most people enjoy the results of it too.
