Hitler was a practicing Roman catholic, Nazi germany had a concordant pact with the Vatican and churches thrived under the Nazi regime with many Bishops and arch bishops being party members who refused to speak out against the holocaust.
No doubt some SOME atheist, or agnostic were also Nazis, why not even some Jews joined the party they even had their own special regiment (https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1996-12-24-mn-12209-story.html) so there is no end to human stupidity.
But a political force that were obliged to wear belt buckles reading "Gott mit uns" surrounding a swastika were not an atheist organisation.

@LenHazell53 Hitler was born to Roman Catholic parents, but ceased attending services after he turned eighteen yrs old. Hitler and most high-ranking Nazis considered themselves atheists or agnostics, but showed toleration for Catholicism, if simply because a large number of Germans were Catholic. The Nazis courted the Church the way Trump courts the evangelicals. All tyrants like to tell people that "God" is on their side.

@davknight True after a fashion, but Hitler was still no atheist or agnostic, he was a member of the Thule society and in later years a Rosicrucian, while never giving up his catholicism and tellingly never being excommunicated, Pope Pius XII in fact proclaimed Adolf as a hero of the church and made Hitler's Birthday a Roman Catholic Holiday.
Himmler was an occultist, Goebbels was a Catholic and wrote voluminously on religious philosophy, Hermann Göring was a convert to Protestantism from the RC, Adolf Eichmann was a Calvinist, I could go on but I stand by my contention National Socialism in German in the early twentieth (unlike communism) was not and did not require its membership to embrace or profess Atheism and was pretty much open to all, bigots and bastards.

There are very few and perhaps fewer wishing to make a right-wing post for fear of being shot down and that is disappointing. I need to have my views and biases challenged to force me to reflect on different perspectives.
