@t1nick of course! Uninformed people tend to think socialism and capitalism are distinct, wholly separate systems, rather than the theoretical/hypothetical ideals they actually represent. There is no pure capitalism nor pure socialism in any well developed nation of any significant size. Both systems in pure form would implode under their own flaws. Democratic socialism, as practiced today in Scandinavia and some of western EU countries, is really capitalism with robust socialism guardrails to prevent would-be robber barons from raping the societies. We in the U.S. had had various socialist elements that have tended to improve life significantly. We happen to be in a period--starting under Ronald Reagan, in which those safety net elements have been relentlessly attacked and undermined, except of course, elements that benefit the upper crust of individuals and mega-corporations.
