Identifying the hypocrisy, greed & stupidity* of Americans & their thought processes.

These are Cipolla's five fundamental laws of stupidity:

  1. Always and inevitably everyone underestimates the number of stupid individuals in circulation.
  2. The probability that a certain person (will) be stupid is independent of any other characteristic of that person.
  3. A stupid person is a person who causes losses to another person or to a group of persons while himself deriving no gain and even possibly incurring losses.
  4. Non-stupid people always underestimate the damaging power of stupid individuals. In particular non-stupid people constantly forget that at all times and places and under any circumstances to deal and/or associate with stupid people always turns out to be a costly mistake.
  5. A stupid person is the most dangerous type of person.

Corollary: a stupid person is more dangerous than a pillager.

It would be a good thing to increase the number of scientists and the research budget they work with. But just bringing more scientists to the US could just make it cheaper to pay them which is not good for them or for those scientists already Citizens.

We need something to make up for the accelerating insanity. The reality is that society fucks scientists, and people thinking it's a viable career path readily learn the truth before it's too late.

Another great idea from a great President.

Great idea? Stealing another nations resources, this time human? Not exactly an original idea emanating from the states.

@puff Does the name Einstein mean anything to you? There are no more original ideas. This is how conflict and competition is done and POTUS Joe is doing it remarkably well.

@rainmanjr That is a very insular, America-centric world view you have there.
Other nations don't do "business" that way you know? (Organised crime/ Mafia does)
And plenty of original ideas in the non-PC "freedom loving" world. But they get suppressed/ censored/ sanctioned/ droned or bought out (as is the attempt in this case).
Realistically, who would want a US visa if Russian anyway? You do understand anti Putin does not mean pro-USA over there? Last thing Russians want is Putin replaced with a US style "democracy".
If the West want Russian scientists, better off luring them with an EU visa. Because the US is not the beacon of hope it used to be; a pity many Americans haven't clicked the American Dream died a long time ago. America does not inspire any more, a loss to the world and a pity. But that's where we are.

We have been using "brain drain" forever. Will Putin permit them to emigrate or lock 'em up as he is won't to do?

He should make it permanent and make it apply to Chinese and Iranian scientists too. 🙂
