LINK Judges who sent children to for-profit jails for kickbacks ordered to pay more than $200 million in damages

Mark Ciavarella and Michael Conahan shut down a county-run juvenile detention center and accepted $2.8 million in illegal payments from the builder and co-owner of two for-profit lockups.

(One of the problems with 'for profit prisons' is that people get greedy and people get locked up needlessly, and judges get bribed to give longer sentences or to find innocent people guilty.)

For profit prisons are just modern day slavery. As has been pointed out, there's more blacks under the aegis of modern law enforcement (Imprisoned, paroled) than there were black slaves in 1850.

Yeah, most people don't realize that the constitutional amendment that "ended slavery" had an exception for those who were in prison, meaning you can still legally use prisoners as slave labor.

They need to reap what they've sown and spend time in the jails they've sent others to.
