LINK Make Love Not Porn

I discovered this when an article about its founder came through my news feed. I watched her TEDtalk, went to the site, and then immediately added it to my dating app profiles to better clarify my sexual preference - no "porn-fed" lovers, a term coined years back by Dan Savage. I also posted it to educate men on the spectrum of interest/noninterest in porn, the importance of communication with a lover, and an understanding of consent vs. assumption. It's at the bottom of said profiles, so we'll see who reads that far and who comments on it. Thought I'd share it here, too.

Revisiting this post after months later... did not went to the link then or now. All I can say is if porn knowledge can not enhance your romance and love experience in bed with your loved one... there is something wrong with you but you don't need it to be happy. But as a minimum teach you humility and the other end of the spectrum... Many watch the Olympics because those are the best athletes that choose to compete and prove their worth to the world of a medal with nothing more than symbolic value. Well, in porn you may see some of the best fuckers in the world... some of the biggest... he, he, he, ha. You will see unique things. I don't watch the Olympics myself anymore. Do not care who is the fastest or whatever record a man or woman can shatter while doing porn but I see value that all can use at some point or another during a relationship... you don't have to behave like a pervert or become one. But porn is Fuck University for those who like Academia. Just Saying... it is pretty naive to think you can not learn pleasure from a business based on pleasure. And Not I am not a Pornographer.

Not gonna lie, I watch porn. Most of it kind of disappoint me, though. For one, it's too...prosaic. You can only see so many penises and vaginas before you realize they're not that special. For another, it's too fast and frenetic.

Three counter-examples come to mind, however (two of them might not really count as porn, but I found them on porn sites). The first is an example of "non-nude porn", It shows a girl, at first just playing in the water at the beach. The water almost (but not quite) makes her dress transparent. It then switches to a scene of her leaning against a wall (again, fully clothed), tracing the symbol of a heart with one painted fingernail across her lower abdomen. The look in her eyes conveys an unmistakable intention.

The second, is a series called "Hysterical Literature." It is a series of black-and-white videos of various women reading from a book of their choice, seated at a table, while someone you cannot see under the table is using a sex-toy on them. This is perhaps my favorite.

The third, a short film called "You Can't See Me." It is essentially a strip-tease, but the joy the model exhibits in playing with her clothing before discarding it is rather fetching. It ends with a short sequence of another nude model whose job it is to clean the glass the video is being shot through. She is smoking a cigarette, and clearly bored with the whole affair.

I have no trouble distinguishing between real love-making and porn. Most porn is so formulaic: dick, pussy, cum. Mix well. There is no element of seduction, or revelation, or mystery that comes with another person. Maybe if more women start making porn, this will evolve. I'd certainly be interested in seeing the results.

In any case, with a real live woman, I have no expectation that we will re-enact some porn video (unless she really wants to, but I suspect that would be unusual). With someone you care about, sex ought to be an act of veneration, respect, and joy.

The hysterical literature series was probably the most original porn idea in years, I really liked them.
The Beautiful Agony (from the French expression for female Orgasm, yes I know the French are weird, they also call an orgasm the little death) series is pretty good to, no nudity, no dialogue simply using sound and facial expression to convey the slow and sensual build up to a joyful orgasm.

There's an entire generation of pornsick men out there who truly on some level don't understand that porn isn't real. I can't fathom it, but it's clearly true. I've been keeping an eye on the INCEL (involuntary celibate) online hate group for a while. The recent van attack in Canada was entirely unsurprising to anyone familiar with their horrifying rhetoric. Porn has a lot to do with the radicalization of young men into dangerous misogynists- almost all of their assumptions and beliefs about women are based on porn. They believe women as presented in porn are examples of the average woman, IE vapid, promiscuous, passive, pain and humiliation loving tools for getting men off. Who can be surprised that a generation so meticulously taught to hate, degrade, dehumanize and disdain women might eventually want to kill them?

I would be careful when making such sweeping generalizations, as they more often than not make you seem like the extreme one. Incels, while extreme, are still a tiny minority of the population. Pinning their behavior on an entire generation is just an absurd association fallacy. I would also point out that pornography has been around for a long time. It may be more prevalent these days with the internet being open to everyone, but porno existed for decades before the first computers were made, without resulting in bloody massacres.

I like to experience the whole spectrum from Porn to Puccini.

Porn is like a lot of things. It can be used or abused. be a pleasure or a problem.

A lot of my girlfriend's have been into porn at least as much as myself. I remember once, an ex and I were preparing for one of her friend's to come over for a little fun. I thought I'd set the mood with The Royal Opera's classic 'La Traviata' on the Plasma TV. My girlfriend came in and rolled her eyes and put some hardcore lesbian porn on! Classy!

Girls!

I watch porn, but don't like the rough stuff, humiliation and such. It's a turn on only if the actors are truly enjoying each other - if its emulating lovemaking, its a turn on, otherwise I switch the channel...When I'm in a relationship, I don't bother, the real thing is sooo much better...

This is much needed.

I'm afraid of meeting a man in the future and him being influenced by porn ie, violent etc.

I'm going to read this and share it. Thank you

And that is exactly why I shared it. I dated a porn addict in my 20s when I was new to dating and it scarred me. I need this to validate that I can stand outside if that paradigm and find someone like me. All the best!

Don't be scared, simply talk to him about what you both think lovemaking involves. Sure there is always that lust when you haven't seen eachother for a while and the second bang might be the front door, but the slow loving embrace when you really know eachother well is always the winner. Guys need their lady's to give them guidance on how she wants lovemaking to work. We don't want free rein and have to guess what you like. A few hints would be nice even instead of stumbling our way thru the process

@Andyg17

Thank you. That's appreciated. We are all human.

Based on personal observation and the writings of academics I would agree porns sets expectations that are not what most of us want in a relationship.

Who here wants to have their face ejaculated on, gag on a penis, or do many other things that degrade women. Anal penetration seems to have gone mainstream, or, in the words of Seinfeld, between consenting adults, "Not there is anything wrong with that."

@Lincster45 are the things that you have listed considered to be degrading for women? Specifically, exactly is it more degrading to ejaculate on someone's face as opposed to in her vagina? Is it because it's not "natural"?
IMO it's all individual preferences. From what I have been told, it's only degrading if it is devoid of consent.

I find porn boring.

Well, I've always thought there was a difference between porn and erotica. Porn being one partner humiliating another (cum on the face, to cite the founder's example) and erotica celebrating sexuality without denigrating anyone. I can understand the therapeutic or artistic aspect of creating your own erotica, for the couple's own benefit. But I'm not sure I understand if these films they are creating are for selling to the public or to be posted for educational purposes or what... interesting idea. I personally prefer men who are not porn addicts, so I like your line about "no porn-fed lovers" but in today's society, I'm not sure how successful a search for a man who isn't into porn would be. I would prefer a gentleman, for sure!

How is it possible to obtain such romantic and detailed instructions on how to perform this ritual, in it's entirety, without porn ?

I knew nothing about this. I listened to the Ted talk. She is really funny. I'm not quite sure of what she is saying though. Seemed to me she wants women to have more input into the porno business and maybe have porn happen in a way women want? Anyway bottom line for me is that I'm jealous she is getting all these young lovers. I want to ask her where she is finding them. LOL

You have to admit Porn Industry is like Western Movies... created by men... for the sake of men and women used as a prop to get to a means. It is no different than the Pretty Boy or Handsome Man in a Romance Story. But I admit Women should had more say on Porn today since a lot more women are watching porn today... or so they say and I heard.

1

I don't know what to say.

I remembered at least 3 ladies that asked me to make love to them as a porn star so.... that is what I can say. You may learn more useful skills from a porn movie than a romance movie... so. That is all I can say and I am not an user but understand its value.

@GipsyOfNewSpain Jesus, some people have all the luck !

@madmac The luck is there all around you.

I'm pretty sure most of us know the difference between love and porn. Just as we know the difference between a romcom and real life... even though we want them to be the same. Porn is a fantasy, and fantasies are just what they are... fantasies.

Most men definitely don't need to be educated on the difference between porn and making love. We are not morons. We know how to separate the two. Checked out the site, decided to watch some porn instead. Thanks though. ?
