History is almost never black and white, as in this case: Long ago, Africans enslaved other Africans and sold them to Europeans. As payment, the traders received metal, from which they then made pieces of art. This was then later stolen by Europeans and brought to Europe. Now this art is to be restituted, even if it then, as in the case of the Benin bronzes, comes back into the hands of the descendants of slave traders. Is that fair?
