Are you over 50? How did lockdowns effect you?

Research in the UK claims that Covid 19 lockdowns have impaired people's cognitive abilities.

What's your experience & determination?

My home and yard were never better-cared for, and I got a new dog.
Also lost whatever tolerance I ever had for assholes, as their abscense was Fabulous!

Aha, you've been constipated since covid & now have a colostomy bag or simply dribbling poo out of your mouth? 😁😉

I was over 50 when the lock downs began, I adapted.
I looked after my family as best I could.
I observed social distancing
I wore a mask around people I did not know
I had the astra venica vaccine twice I was fine
I took a pfizer vaccine booster I was sick as a dog for a couple of weeks, I got over it
I was tested twice a week in order to help care for an elderly relative in care, I was always negative
I never caught covid 19 nor did anyone in my immediate family.

I learned two things as a result of the lock downs

  1. You cannot trust politicians, most are corrupt and many are stupid
  2. Just as I had always suspected, I discovered that most people are frightened stupid monkeys screaming at what they don't understand, or sticking their heads up their own arses in the hope that what they don't see won't hurt them, as a result making a serious problem in to a religious, social, medical and political crisis of the kind that ALWAYS inevitably leads to extremist views, ideologies and war.
    This is my lived experience
    My cognitive state was not effected because I was already living and coping with mental health problems.
    My determination?
    That the majority of the human race are a bunch of superstitious, vicious shit for brain arseholes who are now suffering the consequneces of their own actions and are dragging the rest of us along their self created river of excrement, screaming "See, I was right" as they spin down the drains to drown in in to the sewers of their own self righteous arrogance..

Superb erudite reply. Thanks Len.

I gained 30 pounds..... Lost most of it now!

Perhaps you didn't have the benefit of advice like "The following post has probably already been seen by most members of "" but for those who ..." written back in 2020 & years before the so called experts got round to mentioning such issues.

@frayedbear bless your little heart

The collective response to COVID has demonstrated the cognitive impairment of dumbasses processing scientific information. Lockdowns and masking were stressful but better than people dying from something much worse than flu. People learned to work remotely and found too much time on their hands to engage with poorly educated twits attempting to convey bullshit ideas of how microbiology and immunity actually works on social media. Ivermectin is great for worm infestation not viruses. Don’t consume bleach or shove a UV light bulb up your ass. People who engaged in those stupid behaviors were afraid of a shot? Seriously? The shots helped eliminate the need for isolation.

Before the arrival of the shots I exercised hoping that being more fit would help me survive infection. I read a bunch about immunology and virology which engaged my mind and taxed my memory capacity. That may have exercised my brain and critical thinking skills, especially dealing with bullshit mongers like you on this site.

The stress in the first year was salient. Chronic cortisol production could have impacted people physiologically. A pandemic was happening. People were dying. Society was eating itself and becoming less civil as misanthropic antivaxxers and conspiracy theorists capitalized on fear of the ignorant.

Do tell me about the posts that I made during covid lockdowns that fall into your "especially dealing with bullshit mongers like you on this site" category. I'm sure that you can supply q: references.if your mind is so cognitively able. Unfortunately for you you have largely whittered on about vaccines & anti vaxers which is not what was asked "Research in the UK claims that Covid 19 lockdowns have impaired people's cognitive abilities. What's your experience & determination?" Your answer is that you've lost it!

I've just been reminded that years before the so called experts got round to thinking it I published "The following post has probably already been seen by most members of "" but for those who ...". Obviously you never read it or if you did dismissed as being more from a "bullshit monger". Perhaps you were cognitively impaired before covid?

I worked from home for two years, grew beard, ate at home, totally avoided restaurant food, never got Covid and saved a lot of money on outside eating, car gas and improved health with more and regular exercise. Overall, the experience helped me financially and physically.

Well done.

Has it made you more insular & has it affected your cognitive abilities?

I never got COVID. I’ve received six Spikevax shots. I wore masks for the first year and a half of the pandemic but stopped doing that. I take sub-RDA doses of Vitamin D almost every day. Maybe I’ve been lucky.

@FrayedBear Your cognitive abilities are suspect.

@Scott321 why do you conclude that?

@FrayedBear

Insular and less cognitive? I don't think that at all. When I look back I think it was a good turn in my life. In addition to what I said above, I got to study and obtain about 8 technology certifications, know about possibilities of nomadic work possibilities, what options would be available in retirement etc (income, work, travel, countries). I feel empowered about the options I have.
