A four-year-old cat named Ellie has gone viral on Twitter, but for a reason some may not expect.
Twitter user @revengegrill shared a photo of the adoptable kitten last week along with its heartbreaking intake form: "Y'all. This is the saddest thing I've ever seen," they wrote before diving into the reason this adorable black-and-white kitty cat was surrendered.
"This cat was returned to the shelter because she wanted to cuddle her owners at night," she wrote.
According to the sheet posted in the window of the store's adoption area, Ellie was surrendered on December 8, and the reason will break you.
Written in the cat's voice, the paper reads: "I was returned because I wanted to sleep with my human at night and I wasn't allowed to, so I would cry outside the bedroom door."
Apparently, the tweet caught the attention of a cat lover who was looking for a feline friend all their own. A few days after posting the heartbreaking plea, @revengegrill shared marvelous news: "UPDATE!!! SHE HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!!"
Ellie's new owner chimed in to share several snaps of her newly adopted and highly adorable feline friend. One tweet in particular had quite the cheeky caption: "SHE IS ON THE BED!!!"
I don’t think I could sleep without my 2 babies cuddled up with me. Bailey sleeps on my side an Mazi sleeps snuggled up to my chest. Glad that kitten found a good home. I could never leave my babies crying outside my door.
I had a cat that would sleep under the covers with me, I loved her cuddles. I learned to pick her up in my sleep and roll over with her, and she would just readjust and snuggle closer. She was my heart kitty and passed about 6 years ago. I would have adopted that kitty in a heartbeat if she was closer.

Posted by LaurenI thought this was an accurate representation of how we feel every time we remember our last cat, which happens often when my daughter and I laugh over our current cat's antics.
