Racist people aren't really racist... they just happen to fiercely and blindly hate people of a different race than they are. The only people who are REALLY racist are they people who think differently than they do.

You mean certain rural areas. Not all are alike and in this area the idiot racist, tRumpers are a major minority. They are the ones that hide and keep quiet.

Nothing new here. Back in the Sixties a teacher in Iowa did a lesson in her elementary school class called Brown Eyes/Blue Eyes, in which she divided the class into two groups to teach about prejudice. She encountered the same kind of treatment in her rural area, but decades later she was honored as a hero.

I'm sure some of my lessons (I taught in a mostly liberal private school after a brief stint in the public system and 5 years with the catholics) would bring on trouble, especially now-a-days.

• I used to have a running joke of cutting on and insulting Texas (sorry @glennlab if you are reading). Anyway, one young ninth grader decided to defend her parents home state and said to me, "If you went there, they would treat you really well." To which I replied, "I've been there, and yes, I was treated great. But, I'm white." My black students nearly lost it laughing.

I lived in Atlanta for 20 years, I watched as the New Jim Crowe raised it's ugly face in the "New old South"..I can see what you spoke of happening, again.
