Twitter and Facebook have announced they will lock President Trump out of his accounts for 12 and 24 hours respectively, with Twitter warning the President that he could face permanent suspension, should he continue tweeting baseless election conspiracy theories and inciting violence.
So, a US President, provokes a violent insurrection against his own country - and gets banned from using Twitter for a half a day? Smart move on the part of social media if you ask me, because I’m absolutely positive that after a 12-hour Twitter suspension, President Trump will finally see the error of his ways - and apologize to the nation for his misbehavior.
Why, that reminds me of way back when Susan Collins said she voted against President Trump’s removal from office, because she was also sure that after being impeached, “the President had learned his lesson.” Well, in honor of that insightful statement, I move that we designate every January 6th - as “Susan Collins Day.”
Anyway, so apparently the only punishment for fomenting an insurrection and an attempted coup against the United States, is that you get suspended from Facebook and Twitter for 12 hours? Gee, then I wonder what happens if you actually overthrow the US government - does Twitter suspend you for a full month? Seems kinda harsh.
Hell, I remember Trump's 2016 inauguration speech, when he informed us about all the horrors of the "American carnage” he saw. Why, who knew he was actually referring to the final days of his presidency? Now personally, I don’t really care whether or not they lock Trump out of Facebook or Twitter. I mean, why bother lock up his messages? For God’s sake, let’s lock up the damn messenger.
Maybe the new Sec of Justice will have some balls and indict indict indict.
Compare this to what they did to Julius Assange for just releasing information that should be public. Hardly comparable to sedition and insurrection yet he was thrown in jail and threatened with extradition and tRump gets a 12 hour suspension of twitter. Time for this country to reckon with it's public tolerance of traitors and insurrection on the part of the right while it oppresses those on the left.
Edward Snowden would be a much better example of Government supported political suppression than Julian "for sale to the highest bidder" Assange
