This topic has been floating around for quite some time now. Saw this post and wanted to share because imo, I totally agree. But if they were banned, how much would really change. Those scum bags out there will find them on the black market and/or recreate their own. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to make them. If they want it bad enough, they will find a way. Yes, according to the 2nd amendment, it is our right but it is also a privilege to be a gun owner. Its about respect and many have abused that privilege and right. Can this issue ever be resolved is the question.
Actually pending legislation does not seek to ban weapons meant for war zones. The weapons they seek to ban are semi-automatic, whereas the military uses fully automatic.
Personally I don't care if AR-15s are made illegal, but I cringe when propaganda is used verses fact.
That's the gun lobby talking point, a lot would change. There would be fewer guns and less available to crazies. No law is 100 effective. Machine guns, manufactured bombs and cannons have been unavailable for generations and are not widely seen. I think if assault rifles were common in the twenties they would have been kept away from civilians too.
