It was manifest on 1/6. Tho it's current "spokes-model" is tRump this pre-dates him & will outlast him & tho it seems so simple to me, it seems impossible to eradicate.
As @bobwjr stated below, some seems motivated by envy & a need to blame others for one's own failures, but so much seems to be just hate directed wherever is easiest. How does one fight hate for it's own sake? & please, don't say "Love". I can love reasonable people everywhere, I can't muster love for this sickness nor excuse these actions.
