Pure capitalism is a game of monopoly. Wealth is consolidated, and the rest of us are reduced to being serfs.
Pure socialism is flawed in an entirely different way: there is a lack of selfish motivation (i.e. reward) for either innovations industriousness.

Yes, and it has been and continues to be the failure of the political left to rid itself of the failed ideology and economics of economic rationalism and develop new politics and economics based on fairness and shared outcomes. Tweaking current models to just manage to win elections won't cut it anymore.

The entire notion that we can continue to ‘grow the economy’ under any system is deluded. We are already burning through resources at a far from sustainable pace. Coupled with climate change, and continued business as usual will end us all.

Afraid that's true... But there will come a time... when the average worker won't be able to afford "goods and services" they way they have been. When that time comes, industries are going to suffer. If it gets really bad, we are at risk of revolt...
